I could be reaching here, but idk, Drake is usually deliberate when he does stuff. To add to the griminess of the 8am in Charlotte record, if you pay attention to the sample, it’s saying “be grateful that he was there.” The second to last line, Drake says “Niggas steady cryin' to my daddy, well, boo-hoo,” which seems random, but when you pair that line with what’s being said in the sample, it makes it seem like maybe some beef shit happened in person, and someone had to beg Drake’s dad to have Drake let it go. When you pair that with the lines about having footage of someone bowing down, it seems like some super grimy shit happened behind the scenes
