this album has the ability to take hard turns and put you back on course unexpectedly. you might even go the wrong way but you're not tripping because you trust what's happening. that's what the album is, to me. it's really good, basically a mixture of all five albums (setbacks to crash talk) in one. loved the music, loved the review. been tapped in wit' y'all on yt so i had to hit the patreon. keep murkin'

Good breakdown and review! But overall I'm disappointed with the album which is a shame cause I had high hopes for it. The beats were average at best and the switch ups were a hinderance and stopped any flow for me. I miss the H&C Schoolboy Q!

Great reaction! I rly like the production on the album as u mentioned as well. I actually rly enjoyed love birds how in the first part it teases you with that beautiful chorus and the guitar chords cut in. On first listen tho I feel like I kinda miss the one classic song that’s gonna bring me back to the album again when hearing it in like a few months or years even. Maybe it’s gonna be blueslides idk but maybe I was also just falsely expecting another crash or that part lol. But still rly enjoyed the album, u always gonna get something special from Q that u won’t get from anyone else so im rly looking forward to spending more time with the project. Also the new background looks dope. Checking out new music with you has kinda become a ritual for me so Ty for the video, sending some love from Germany

Q pulled a Drake and put on a up and comer, but played it smart with the Back N Love single version dropping early. The album version fits great within the album itself imo. Q’s delivery and substance compared to Malik in the track shows levels and is an example of why Q’s sound is timeless compared to many newer rappers. Similar to how people assume Keem gets lil bro’d when on tracks with Kendrick, even though Keem is solid. Q said “Imma God to the bitch, lil kid” soon as his verse started, after Malik finished. I think that awesome in the context of the album based on who Q has become as a A tier rapper over his last 4 albums. Q could just drop the single version of Back N Love as part of a blue lips DELUXE edition in the future and get even better stream numbers cause many, not all, make it well known they prefer the single version but still like Blue Lips. Personally I love the album version now cause I know what to expect and appreciate it now.

Never heard a schoolboy q album before this, very much enjoyed it, different styles than I was used to and not really what I expected. The first half started a bit slow to me but the album really picked up later on when you were talking about that run

listen more ScHoolboy Q on why he played with so many different sounds on ‘Blue Lips’: “I wanted to make music without rules for this album. Everything I’ve been hearing from like 2019/2020 has been pretty much the same thing all the way. So I just was like ‘How do I hear music for myself right now?’ And it was kinda choppy…This is not a one-listen album.”

I gave this album a listen on release day.. first time round didn’t connect with me. I tried a 2nd time a few days late and couldn’t get to the end. I jumped on here for my 3rd listen along with both of you and I’m turning it off after half the video. This is not about you two, it’s the album. I guess it’s not for me, and that’s ok.. I’m happy he’s got the look like he has on this album and that it’s made a lot of people happy. Respect to Q and his fans.. but for now, I’m cool on this album. Who knows what will happen if I give it a 4th listen in a years time, open to that.
