Duet vs Solo narration

  • Nope, I really like the duet format for these romances and want it to continue, even if you could score a masterclass narrator like Tess. 42
  • I don't mind solo narration in my romance provided it's a female because let's face it, females read better sexytime 80
  • It would depend ENTIRELY on who the solo narrator is, I'm generally opposed to it, but there are exceptions. 7

WYLAMG? series has been dual narration so far. It was always conceived as a series wherein I could use different narrators from book to book because there are always new characters. That said, I've run with Boucher and Threet for all of them SO FAR because they're pretty good to work with and they like my stuff. That said, variety is the spice of life. WYLAMG5 will be voiced by Rebecca and Daniel.I was talking with Tess earlier today and she mentioned she wouldn't mind working with me again. When I asked her about duets she said she wasn't opposed to the idea but it wasn't something she's done before, and I got the distinct impression she'd prefer to do a solo project.

So ... since I know a LOT of you have good impressions of her performance in CC, let me ask you this:

What books has Tess done? I want to get a quick sample. As long as she can do a decent guy voice I have no problem with the solo reader.

ngl I'm sad that Boucher and Threet aren't going to voice the new book but with how the WYLAMG books are mostly separate from each other, it won't be as jarring.

Tess has a great guy voice. !00% in favour of hearing her again. I've been going out of my way listening to things she' has narrated she's that good.

I love Daniel’s voice, and Rebecca is top notch, so I’m pretty excited for the new one. Also, Tess! I read a lot of Schinhofen, and Tess is one of my favorite parts of that.

Easy 2B Cheesy

Hay if Tess is willing. I would listen to her read her shopping list.

Neil Ikerd

aldo, if Tess goes off on a random character rant, I really hope it gets in included as an out take. Her ‘I will shit in your eggs, Gregory’ rant is one of the funniest things I have ever heard. It might even be better than Jessica’s foul-mouthed Breena rant.

Kashaye 'Dynamo Diva' Parker

So, regardless of the voice actor/actress, I'm a big fan of duet style just because it makes the viewpoint shift between sections so much more vivid. BUT... if Tess wants to do solo? damn, have her do solo. Also... how does this dovetail into the actor/writer strike? Are voice actors also striking in support? Yes, I'm concerned about such things... because VA work is just as bad (or worse) than the streaming contracts currently being disputed, as well as AI 'training' on people's voices.

Daniel

Option 4: I like reading books!

Tad Branson is also a very good solo narrator. He did some work for AJ Markham that was very well done.

I prefer duet and Jess and Chris are my favorite pairing. However, Tess and Andrea are ACE solo narrators.

KnightoftheWhiteSun

I will always prefer female solo narration. Tess Irondale solo narrating is a step up in my opinion.

Roan9909

Tess is one of my all time favorites. As well as Andrea parsnue. Daniel and Rebecca are one of the best combinations. So whatever or whoever you prefer.

Enkixx

I prefer duet and I think it'd be incredible if Tess would do one. My issue is mainly that if there are other men, they all sound basically the same. I like the story as much as the smut.

Tess Irondale is one of the BEST to do solo narration. Anyone who has heard her work before knows this well. She did an absolute amazing job with Apocalypse Gates, Good Intentions, and more. I say let her have a crack at it, but it WILL throw off the vibe if she reads the established characters in her voice. If there are repeats of them, have the original narrator read them please. Velise would just sound way off if anyone but Jessica Threet was reading her. Same with Vince for Chris.

Snow Goon

I'm clearly in the minority, but I love Jessica Threet and Christopher Boucher. Not only do I prefer them working off each other, but I really love all the accents they give to various characters. Threet's Velise and Boucher's goblin voices always stand out to me.
