It's been a while, so a little bit of an explanation.

I have been suffering burnout. Serious burnout. Trying to write much of anything on TAP or SDM2 had me grinding my teeth and doing literally anything else.

Don't mistake that for dislike of the stories or any intention of cancelling the projects. I enjoy both worlds, both sets of characters, and I know that once I get over this hurdle I'll be able to finish both projects. I'm having covers made, in fact the cover for TAP 4 is done (I had it reimagined through a different artist as I thought the original didn't quite match what I wanted) and the cover for SDM2 will feature Yimshe AND Palashai, and I'm quite looking forward to it. (It'll also have an alternate version, just like SDM1. :P )

That said, we come to this. THIS, is something completely new. I eventually decided that the only way to get over this burnout was to tackle something that caught my interest, something that sparked my imagination and made me WANT to write.

So far, it's been working, and these five chapters are a start on a new book. If it's well-received, a new series.

A few of you have long lamented that I never continued Divine Koan. I have several reasons for that, but the short version of the very long story is that I try not to throw good effort after bad, and everyone is completely burned out on VR.

This new project is litRPG, but I'll be giving it my own spin. As most of you already know, I tend to write most of my stories with a bit more grit. This take on litRPG will be ... that. While I do intend to work in levity and a bit of romance (It's still a Ceb book, after all) it will not be the main thrust of this work.

I realize a lot of you aren't here for this, and feel free to skip it. If you care to give your opinions of what I have so far, as always, they're greatly appreciated.

Thank you, as always, for your patronage. More recently, for your patience.

I thought I really wouldn’t like this lead. But that’s changed a few chapters in. Will his mother’s identity ever come up again? The really sad thing is that he and Sess are both right. The honor enforced or taught at the Academy is functionally hollow. The honor she wants to practice is true, but her first opportunity, she’s not living up to her own standard. Maybe she can’t see the difference in spite of her vaunted brainpower. Can he see it? It felt like they were talking about two different things. And obviously, the family patriarch is good at keeping secrets if the commandant doesn’t know the scuffle is between two illegitimate sons making their way. And the commandant may be more proud than shrewd. He’s just been shown the disastrous consequences when his formerly prize pupil is given power or put under pressure. Bad news.
