Hi everyone,

I can hear you from here ........ “Christmas? Already?” ........ but yep, it's only seven weeks away. I thought I’d share this festive Labrador early so you can paint at a relaxed pace before December turns into a glittery whirlwind!

This is Part 1.

Part 2 is here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/142764392

If you’d prefer to leave the antlers out, it should be easy enough to connect the ears directly to the sides of the head.

All the files you need to complete the painting are listed below, including 14 progress photos of my painting. You can download them individually or all at once by clicking on the "Download all" button.

The reference photo was taken by Victor Salazar- downloaded from Pixabay.

Adorable, This is the best xmas tutorial 😍 I have a golden retriever this reminds me of my boy. May have to adapt this for my pet once I give your version a try out. Hope you are feeling better and recovering well. Thank you

Shu Ananth

Thanks Louise for an intermediate level tutorial! This is great can’t wait to try it ♥️

Hi Louise, I'm looking forward to painting this beautiful tutorial. I know its not important to have the exact colours but I don't have gold ochre. I was wondering if it would still work with either DS raw sienna or natural sienna. I was reading that you can add a touch of brown to the raw sienna to get a similar colour to gold ochre. I'm not sure if i could add burnt umber or something similar. Thanks

Louise De Masi

Hi Natalie, yes of course! Use either Raw Sienna or Natural Sienna. I don't think you'll need to add anything to them.

Thank you for asking this as I have both of those colours you mentioned too and I’m looking so forward to this tutorial!! I’d love to see how yours turns out Natalie

I’m so excited to do this tutorial and figure out how to adapt it to my beagle x lab 😍 elongating the ears and adding some spots here or there. It’s wonderful thank you Louise

No worries and thank you Katie. Happy painting.

I was thinking the same. My daughter has a golden and I was thinking I could maybe make some longer strands and make it work🤷🏻‍♀️
