I’ve signed a book deal… and I want to share the process with you! (Patreon)

Hi everyone,
Some exciting news:
I wanted to let you know that I’ve recently signed a contract with a publisher in the UK, Search Press, to create a watercolour book.
I can’t share too much about the content just yet, but I can share the process and I’d really like to include you in that.
The book is currently scheduled for release in 2028, which might sound like a long way off, but there is an enormous amount of work to do between now and then.
I’ve started keeping a working journal as I go. It’s just a place to think things through, test ideas, and slowly piece everything together.
Last month I spent some time setting up and photographing different subjects in the studio, testing what might work well as paintings. It’s interesting how much impact small changes can have, like shifting an object slightly, simplifying the setup, or adjusting the light. I’m still not completely happy with the results, so I’ll keep refining things. After the last photographic session I picked up a roll of white Colorama background paper, which should help create a cleaner, more seamless backdrop for future shoots. As for the book projects, nothing is locked in yet. I’m still working through the options and taking my time with it.
I thought you might enjoy following along as I work through the book. You’ll probably see pages from this journal pop up here from time to time. Many of you have painted alongside me for years, and your encouragement has shaped the way I teach, so it feels natural to share this process with you as well.
It’s exciting and a little overwhelming, but I’m looking forward to it.
Louise
