Here's a sneak peek at my painting table today. This is Chelsea. She was a member of our family for 12 years. Sadly, she passed away in 2012.

My younger son's girlfriend asked me if I could do a painting of her so she could give it to my son for his birthday next month. So I'm having a lovely time painting her and reminiscing about the past.

My son was 5 when we got her and he was 17 when she died so he grew up with her. I hope this will be a special gift for him.

Are there any special pets in your life and have you ever tried to paint them?

Sweet dog! I haven't tried to paint my dog. He is an all black pug and I imagine it would be difficult! I would like to try my tabby cat, though.

Margret Martin

Awesome! I would love to paint my dog “Cutter”. He’s a long haired dachshund. I see him in burnt Sienna and neutral tint 😊 but have been so afraid to try.

Louise De Masi

Do you have some good photos of him that you could use Margret?

Margret Martin

I have a few and have even gone as far as to get his head sketched out - though I wasn’t sure if I should enlarge some (easier to paint?)

Jacinthe Boudreau

Your son will certainly be touch and happy of this reminder of Chelsea💫. I would love to see the final😊.

Thank you Jacinthe. I hope so! I'll post a photo when I'm finished. :-)

Eve Eichner

How beautiful already!🤩

Caden

How long did this take you?

Louise De Masi

I've worked on it now for about 4 hours. Probably another 2 or 3 to go.

My sweet sweet Theodor suffer from heart failure yesterday and was put to sleep with me and my husband yesterday afternoon. It is really hard to loose a family member especially when it it so sudden. I was working on making portraits on every animal and human member of my family. Started with the wrong cat though... hehe. I would love to paint him, one day. But not to day. I am just happy I made it to my studio today, enjoying your patreon and Pinterest. Thank you for creating this post so you gave me the space and help to carry the sorrow, and the happiness of having the joy of having 11 beautiful years with him. And yes I have more lovely animals in my family, 1 naked cat and 2 little puddles. Best of wishes to you all

Louise De Masi

Oh I'm so sorry Valeria. It's heart breaking. I hope you're ok. I'm glad you have other pets to help take your mind off losing Theodor.

I have had boxers and presently have Dogue de Bordeauxs. I have done two colour pencil drawings of one of my DDBs and the Grandmother of my other one, but have never attempted a water colour. I would like to though :-)

Hi Louise , I was just surfing through your content and stumbled on Chelsea . I wouldn't need a cup for water to dip my brush in , my tears would be my free resource for this painting . It's lovely . XO
