So, patreon has been pushing hard lately to implement their whole offers program, including forcing me to turn them on briefly. I was wondering if you guys would want them ?

To be entirely clear, when say 'offers', I mean when patreon sends you 'special limited time discounts' for memberships and other crap. Personally, I absolutely HATE this stuff, I believe it is FOMO manipulation and spam.

But, I don't know, maybe some of you guys want that, so I thought I would make a poll.

There's also annual memberships, but I don't activate them because I also feel like they're kind of scummy, especially when my writing pace can be really erratic, and honestly monthly payments help with bookeeping on my end.

P.S. Chapter 391 is about 55% written, I just had a sudden reminder that I haven't eaten a real meal today nor have any proper food I can digest in the fridge (YAY for lactose intolerance). I might have it done and post it later today, or keep it in stock for the friday slot.

I agree that offers are manipulation, yearly offers could be nice but tbh I don't really care much for them since the discount you get is not much and you (likely) suffer the discount in your income, and at least I am here to support an author I like

Have to agree with you there, don't care for FOMO or spam. It sounds like a version of surge pricing I've been seeing talked about with groceries. Also, you should totally get some food in you that you actually digest, don't worry about the chapter today.

This not working on mobile is part of why I hate this platform. The fact that it's in a monopoly position is basically the only reason I use it because nothing freaking WORKS here.

Idk about author stuff but this is the first thing I noticed going wrong, apart from not a good way to know if I've read a chapter when Ive been without reading for 2 months or so

I've used a fee of them and i find by the time it runs out ive caught up on all the content and then end up unsubbing because another offer rolls in, or id rather just wait on the content to backlog before subscribing again. I don't see how this does anything other than encourage Churn.

Given the fact that patreon seems VERY careful not to answer that question anywhere on the page where you can set it up, and were pushing it as hard as possible, I'm going to guess 'me'.

I'm happy for you to turn it on (briefly) if it will get patreon off your back, but i have zero interest in anything it's going to send me.

@Playwars To ad to the list of "nothing freaking WORKS", I am not receiving the notifications when the chapter are published for half of the authors I am supporting, and instead I receive spam offers.
