Hi! I think its so cool that the actors dubbed the voices themselves! They are all fluent in English, so I did my first watch in English since it was still them, their accents in English is so cute too!

Beck Huston

It is going to be fun to watch you see this story unfold!

Beck Huston

Dubbed is weird, but the original actors did do the actual dubbing.

V

Yeah, i agree with you, can't do dubbing, i literally thanked you for removing it lol! About the booze, believe it's a simple as not allowing it on boarding school grounds. Strict standards in them. Also think northern European countries like Sweden Norway and rest would all die if you'd cut off their boozing ways, particularly with their long winters.

Oh don't you worry, Sara's social awkwardness will be shown more throughout the show, most apparently is a specific scene in the 3rd episode. Its implied that Sara got bullied pretty badly at their previous school most likely due to her social issues, and is said a few times that she struggles to make friends. As for the booze thing, I'm pretty sure what they mean by "dealing booze" is "buying and supplying for minors." You definitely get more information about the characters as the series goes on and about the relationship between Simon and his dad. As a side note, Omar Rudberg (Simon) was in a popular swedish boyband as a teenager before starting his solo career. As you heard in the episode, he has an amazing voice and he's also an incredible dancer as well. This was his first acting role and he does such an amazing job as Simon. Would definitely recommend checking out some of his songs if you get the chance. Malandro, Dying, and A World Like This (which he wrote) are his most recent songs and they're all fantastic.

Love this series. It inspired me to start learning Swedish so i could enjoy more Swedish shows and music.

My understanding is that it's not legal in Sweden to charge for school, even "private" school. So they charge for the boarders to live there, but if you live in the area, as long as your grades are good, you can go to the private school free of charge. This show had me looking up and learning a lot about Sweden lol.

I saw you were reacting to this, I love this show so much. It's so good. I agree on the dubbing, I need original. I know it's the same actors but the emotion isn't there in the dubbing.

My understanding is that alcohol is fairly heavily restricted in Sweden, unlike some other Scandinavian countries and is only sold in state run liquor stores. That's why people sell black market booze and make moonshine, as alcoholics can't get enough alcohol under the stringent alcohol sales laws. August calles Simon "Sosse", which refers to the Swedish Democratic Socialist political party, which is Sweden's largest political party and is populist, supporting Democratic socialism, a strong welfare state, and labour interests and workers rights. "Sosse" is sometimes used a pejorative slur by the upper classes against the poor and supporters of socialism and the labour movement. The theme of class differences is a major one in the show and will come up over and over again, as pretty much everybody at Hillerska, other than Simon and Sara, are extremely wealthy and either nobility or nouveau riche.

I haven't seen this show and decided to do a first time watch with you, but didn't feel a connection to the characters after the first episode like I did with HS or HR. I guess I though I would since this is supposed to be thhose two shows mushed together. I'll try watching a few more episodes on my big screen so I can read the subtitles better

You will get there pretty quick... Season 1 is more of a slow burn
