Morally speaking, yes, Jamie did the right thing, killing 'The Mad King,' but because he was part of Aerys Targaryen's (The Mad King's) Kingsguard and swore an oath to protect that King, then he turned around and killed him. So because of that, he's called Kingslayer and Oathbreaker among many other names.
