Hello wonderful people, and happy new year!!! Thank you for your support this past year, and now this year!

I'm excited for all the rat-related business we'll be getting up to in 2026, but first here's a paper animation to kick things off, of the sun falling into a burrow.

Whenever one of these paper animations involves colouring in large areas of the paper black, I end up destroying a bunch of black markers. For this one, it was actually handy having all those previously destroyed markers still sitting on my desk, to do the light-to-dark transition frames. I could get varying levels of grey by switching between a used-up white board marker, fabric marker and calligraphy pen.

If you're a Pen Pal, one of these frames will be sent off to you today.

I like to think that the bug is just trying to sleep and keeps getting woken up like "wtf why is the sun in my living room?"

Using fading markers to transition from light to dark is absolutely genius
