Avon Sharp is the cool and collected project leader of the Little Western Extension Project. The Fat Controller’s musings and fancies might have only remained musings and fancies if Avon hadn’t accepted the role of executing them.

The importance of the project (one that might define the current Fat Controller’s legacy!) has given Avon an extreme amount of clearance. Whatever Avon himself believes will ensure Hotel de le Profecia Autocumplida's completion is usually what goes, including the placement of Spitzer the Crane.

Despite his cleverness and professionalism, he does not act as if he is above feedback and outside help. Duck had inspired him to request Scruff to work on the project when the bridge over the Small Railway needed a lighter engine to move construction materials over it.

He tends to push the engines to do their best work, and will let them know if their efforts have disappointed him without sugar-coating it. Unfortunately, this can be quite upsetting for engines who strive for perfection like Arthur. He is very particular about which engines are requested for various tasks, and rarely asks for engines who are known to be feisty or accident prone.

It took some time for the engines to accept that he is their manager, not their friend or a parental figure. Regardless, Duck and Oliver are taken aback by the secrecy of the project and how no one has told them how this extension will affect their timetable and day to day.

Despite his apparent competence, the Little Western Extension Project has seen its fair share of mishaps, though it wouldn’t be fair to blame him for the tornado, right?
