Hello Patrons,

It's taken a while to get here but we're finally done with the first of our four episodes on the Story of Dwarf Fortress. This episode will be going live next week, and when it does we'll have episode two ready for you folks. So you'll be a week or so ahead of everyone else for the duration of the episode drops.

In this first episode we cover the pre-history of Dwarf Fortress, introduce you to the game's two developers and explore the obscure RPG branch that inspired the game's simulation-style gameplay.

Excellent as always, I can’t express enough how each subsequent production NoClip does just continues to improve and far surpasses any production value one might see on HBO, Netflix, etc. This project in particular must have been a truly Herculean effort. Excited to see the next episodes as they roll out. One thing I noticed, and tested on multiple devices, I’m hearing a slight hiss above the audio, especially during the dialogue in the interview sections. It almost sounds like rain in the background. Just wanted to give a heads up! Thanks again for all you guys do!

The credits at the end are not scrolling :) With that out of the way: love the tone setting in the beginning and the short "oh wait, lemme explain" interject. A really good aperitif 😀

Love the shorter multi part docs. Stoked for the next ep. Thanks NoClip crew!

The setup for the GDC footage reuse is very funny, love Tarn. Met him and Zach at a Halloween party a while back. They were as excited to talk to me about my game as much I was was to talk to them about Dwarf Fortress's impending Steam launch.

Hah thanks for the heads up

Is that a Jeremy I hear screaming at 1:16??

I'm so excited this is finally happening! Loved part one, can't wait for the next.

Thanks guys, this kicks ass. Looking forward to all the new episodes.

So excited for this! DF is my favorite game and I can't wait to see how y'all cover it. Tiny bit of feedback: the intro here feels a little bit slow, and there were a few times during it when I thought I must have clicked the wrong video.
