Hey Patrons,

Hello from down under. This post is only going to be relevant to those of you in certain Australian cities - but don't worry I've recorded a patron show that will be going live in the next day or so (depending on my Sydney hotel upload speeds).

For folks in Sydney and Melbourne I wanted to get your feedback on what day(s) and locations might work best for a meetup. When we keep these to patron-only events we usually get around 10-20 folks per meetup. It's usually a chill evening affair where we find a bar somewhere and hang out / chat and take incredibly handsome selfies.

So, here's the current state of play;

SYDNEY I'm looking at doing it on either Thursday or Friday evening this week (16th/17th). My hotel is near Chinatown so central Sydney in general seems to work. Any suggestions for days that suit you, and possible good locations (a bar with a big outdoor area usually works) would be appreciated. If nothing obvious pops up I'll find a spot myself around here.

Also if you're at SxSW I'm doing a talk with SkillUp on Friday at 4:30pm - come along!

MELBOURNE My current plan is to drive down to Melbourne over the weekend (I want to explore the countryside a bit). So Sunday or Monday evening (20th/21st) are likely the best times for me to come hang. I don't have accommodation in Melbourne yet so any location is probably fine. Definitely open to location suggestions here.

What's Next?

So basically tell me which day suits you best and post any loccation suggestions if you have them. Once I've read through those I'll make a call and post times and locations in a new Patron Post. Thanks so much for he help - I'm excited to hang out. I've only been here 24 hours and loving it already.

Cheers!

Danny

I live in regional Australia so I might make it to Melbourne on the Sunday, but I am not sure if it would work out. If you drive along the M31 and want some tips on stops along the way, especially somewhere between Gundagai and Albury, I am happy to provide.

Sunday works better for me in Melbourne. Depending on were you get accommodation there are so many options for a meet up

Jacob Morrison-Gardiner

Quite far from either of these locations for those dates, but hope you have a great time anyway!

Matt Sayer

Really keen on the Melbourne Meetup, and for me Sunday would be preferred. I live in the burbs so others might be better at venue recommendations, but I've heard good things about Gin Palace.

Captain Fram

Hell yeah! I'm in Melbourne and would be keen for a meetup on either Sunday or Monday evening

James Furler

Ay awesome! Sunday in Melbourne would be ace - you might have a few more venue options than the Monday too tbh. Happy to offer options on the full spectrum of Bar -> craft beer brewpub -> Aussie pub -> dive bar 😛

Adam Carbone

Either day works for me in Melbourne, would love to come along and say hello. Depending on which way you go there are a lot of speed cameras along the drive down to Melbourne! Not an expert on all of the options around Melbourne but The Cherry Tree in Richmond is a nice spot for craft beers.

Hey Danny, great to see you when you finally get to Melbourne, either day I can make work. You will be able to see Albert Park in the flesh.

Patrick Lum

For Sydney, Thurs is a little better for me than the Friday, but either or - I wont' be able to make it until late on the Thurs, and I'll be dog tired on the Fri, but I'll make the effort Our work likes the rooftop or upper floors of the Keg and Brew in Surry Hills - it's closer to Central than Chinatown, but still walkable

Efe Vardarli

I'd be down both days for Melbourne :) Inner North Brewing Company is a chill warehouse-style indoor/outdoor brewery. They're open till 9-10 on Sunday

bluphoenix

Oh cool , for Sydney I work in the city so should be able to make it either day

Alec Thomas

Either Thursday or Friday in Sydney works for me!

Dean Yamak

Ha, I just moved from Geelong to Newcastle, so I might be able to make a Sydney catch up
