Hey Early Access Patrons,

I hope you're enjoying your respective weekends. In case you've already gobbled down our Harvey Smith interview, here is another Noclip Session to enjoy.

We sat down with Ricardo Bare and Raphael Colantonio about the design of Prey and their early careers working on games such as Arx Fatalis and Deus Ex 2. Raphael has since left Arcane to take some time off away from the games industry so I'm especially glad we got some time with him to talk about the difficulty in designing immersive sims.

We hope you enjoy it. More videos coming next week!

Prey & Immersive Sim Design (Ricardo Bare & Raphael Colantonio) - Noclip Sessions

Back in March we sat down with Ricardo Bare & Raphael Colantonio (who has since left Arcane) about the difficulty in designing immersive sims, and the long journey both they and the Prey IP took to get to this point. Our work is 100% crowdfunded. Consider supporting us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/noclip Check out our new website here: https://www.noclip.video Buy merch here: https://store.noclip.video

Perfect timing, Danny! Nearing the end of my first playthrough of the game and it's quickly become a late 2017 favourite! Would love to see a documentary on Arkane some day!

I thought Prey was so good, I almost missed it as the demo on the ps4 controlled so rough, but they fixed it completely, I am glad I got it in December. Great interview! loved this session so interesting!

Ok I have a very random thought. You know I keep saying that Noclip for me is part eternalizing the history of video games and part educational material on game development. I think you should make a project solely covering different aspects of video game development. I think so many people have no answer on what angle they should take to enter video games world. A series of videos covering everything from ideation, to initial level design, to programming, PR, back office - all of that is a black box for majority of outsiders. There must be an interesting way to tell that story and shine some spotlight on these professionals.
