UNLISTED YOUTUBE VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyXtfecuYR4

It's took a year, but it's finally here.

Our hour long documentary on the design of Dishonored 1 and 2 is now available for early access patrons. In this video we cover several aspects of the design of these beloved immersive sims; level design, narrative, tech, combat, player choice and more.

This is a 99% final cut version with a few rough edges (and missing lower thirds) here and there but essentially it's the version we're going public with on Monday.

Thank you for your patience with this project. In a way it's nice to produce a normal Noclip documentary in pandemic 2021 - but we appreciate you letting us take our time.

Let us know what you think, and feedback is of course encouraged.

Just watched it, great stuff as always, I'm almost finished with my Dishonored 2 playthrough currently and loving the game.

This was worth the wait :) so happy with it and just some minor notes: - there's a noticeable repetition of b-roll that shows a health and mana potion in a slow pan. I think it shows up three times and after the second I thought "oh, this I've seen before" and on the third time it really became noticeable and the impression was more like "did they run out of b-roll?" - in the first 2 minutes or so there are the noclip text/interviewee backgrounds in the lower left but the video footage shows in game scenes and only Danny is talking. forgot to hide those? - some translations from French to English seemed to be a bit strange. like the translator translated verbatim and it wasn't put into full context in English grammar. but I LOVE that you provided the selective CCs for non-English parts and the notice at the beginning of the doc :) overall this early cut is already one of my favorite noclip docs. it's a great balance between d1 and d2 and the focus on the standout levels in d2 doesn't overstay its welcome. big , big ♥ for this one!

Appreciate the feedback! Yeah I'll replace that b-roll a bit on the next one (we did run out, haha). The subs were given a refresh about an hour ago so should be fine now. Thanks so much for this, will include in the final edits!

This was so worth the wait. Absolutely loved it and I got a kick to hear Heretic and Hexen were inspirations for the Clockwork Mansion. Arkane and these games are just awesome.

This is an exceptional doc, thank you! Makes me all the more excited for Deathloop ♥️

I've been thinking about signing up for the patreon for a while now but it's this doc that pushed me over the edge. Couldn't wait to watch it! And glad to support such an incredible channel

This was so cool. Thanks for putting this together. I loved the bit about The Void House. Such a cool idea.

Thanks so much Jack, and welcome!

Great work as always! I noticed that the subtitles cover much of the descriptive text during the part about "Crack in the slab" (starts around 50:37) is there a way to move the text?

It was a difficult choice but for the sake of preserving the most high-res version of that b-roll we decided to run with it and let people replay the section if they want to catch it all. The only other way around it I could think was cropping it or removing it and that would mean not showing the materials which we always like to do as much of as possible.

So satisfying to listen to Arkane — as insightful people and designers invested in the communication with their audience on multiple creative levels. Not having played Dishonored — tried once long ago and it didn't click at that time — in the anticipation of the documentary (and after doc about the studio) I decided to give it a shot again. Now finished 1-st game spending around 30hrs on a single playthrough trying not to miss a piece of the lore and immersing in the 2-nd game. Thank you for having these conversations for us! P.S. it would be great if some day you could release some bonus pieces of conversations which were left out during editing. even in the form of short monologues or thoughts on one topic. Curious to hear about dlc production, how they expanded mechanics and narrative of Dishonored world so significantly. Nevertheless, thanks again!
