Hey Early Access Patrons,

In the first of two final early access videos for you before the year it out, we talk to Nate Purkeypile about the reception to Fallout 76, why he left Bethesda after 14 years of crafting worlds there, and what it's like making a solo open world game "The Axis Unseen" using Unreal.

This was something I filmed while in Maryland for a friend's wedding - a little snapshot into the life of one developer, and some insight into the culture at Bethesda and the power of game creation tools in 2023.

Oh and you can wishlist THE AXIS UNSEEN here:https://store.steampowered.com/app/1807810/The_Axis_Unseen/

Let me know what you think!

About 5 minutes in and enjoying it so far; however there is some very jarring shakiness happening from the camera. An example is during the part where Nate is showing off the shadow effects in the game engine. The video starts a little shaky and then gets progressively wilder, as if you were on a rollercoaster. It strikes me as a post-processing camera correction tool glitched. There's also an example around 4:20 where the winabego is shown and inside of it where the camera goes buckwild.

Oh this sounds like a very interesting one! Gonna watch it later tonight!

yeah that's just what 24fps looks like when you're using a camera with no stabilization/gimbal/tripod. sorry if it's jarring - I reckon that outside segment is the worst offender but then I don't even notice it.

Great bite-sized doc - wishlisted the game too. As much as I love the 2 hour docs, it's nice to have a beer and watch a less than 30 minute, well made doc.

I love these bitesized ones. I didn't know about this before, so it'll be fun to keep a pulse on it. Excellent doc!
