0.7 is almost finished. Only the final polish is missing. The update will be released this week, as soon as I am done.

Everything new:

The story and dialogue are finished.

I made another set of animations, those are now all done.

I animated, rendered and edited the last two scenes of 0.7. They are all done now.

I did another grammar pass on the script.

And I did one complete playthrough correcting bugs and properly implementing the new video player.

I also further optimized the player to have better performance.

I replaced the warning screen when starting the game.

And I remade the credits screen.

And the mode select screen also got new looks.

I also put in the option to change your name in the bedroom. For those who are unhappy with their choice or play on other peoples saves and want their own name.

I also optimized the code for the building minigame a little bit.

And I made some signatures for the forums.  I still have to do some polishing on them though.

And I finally started making an Itch.io page. It took me far too long to set one up.

All in all the update is almost finished, basically only bug testing and grammar checks are left. But from experience I know that this might take a while if I encounter something difficult, so you will have to wait a few more days until the release.

The game is starting to get so long that testing it in it's entirety is starting to become quite the task.

So, until then, stay safe! The release will be this week.

Time to start considering automated regression testing

The news you post every two weeks is very good. Most developers on Patreon don't understand that they need to keep supporters informed. Even if there is little progress or a problem has come up supporters want to see that the artist is still there, still working on the project. You are very good about this. After a few weeks with no news supporters start to unsubscribe. After a few months they assume the project is dead. As patrons we understand that we are not buying a product; we are supporting artists. Just a $5 subscription over 1 year is $60 -- the same price as a AAA game like Cyberpunk 2077. We are willing to spend the money to support the artist but we are not willing to be ignored or taken for granted. I don't know why most creators don't understand that.

Well thanks! I am always trying to be transparent. I myself like it when developers are open about what is going on. You always know that something is fishy when they stop communicating. Not only here on Patreon. And I've read your comment about automated regression testing btw. I'll be looking into it.

Unfortunately I don't know what automated or unit testing systems are available for Ren'Py but there there must be something since it's standard practice for software development. I know they have systems for Python. But you may not need a Ren'Py specific test platform; some will test just about anything that will run in windows and I assume the same must be available for Android and Apple as well. You may even be able to find something that does all those platforms so you don't have to write separate tests for each. Our regression tests saved us so much trouble, finding where new code that seemed to compile and run bug free actually broke something somewhere else. In your case I assume it would play through every scene testing each path and verifying the results. Initially it's a lot more work to set up than just testing by hand but once you have it done and only need to add to it as new content is added, it saves an enormous amount of test time for the rest of the project's life. Good luck, I hope this works out for you.
