It's been quite a while since the last Monday Update, but now they are back as  development returns to it's usual cycle. In this very first installment I want to talk about the feedback I got for Version 0.1 and how I really struggled with it.First of, I want to preface this post with the disclaimer that I really struggled to find the words for this Monday Update. It might be a bit disorganized at points and I might repeat myself or explan things you might find redundant. Now, let's get to it.I was expecting people to love Children of Morn right from the get-go. Some people might read that and think I'm an idiot, but it is simply the best and most advanced work I've ever done. The graphics made a big jump, the animation improved, the sound is much more detailed, the music is really interesting (in my opinion even great), the writing got better, I even have specially recorded moans for the girls. This game is the peak of my current ability and I thought people would see that and love it. I don't think I'm overstepping when I say that, at least technically, it is one of the highest quality games in the adult game scene. Even though it is no more than a prolog.

But I was wrong. At least partially. People did love it, I got many positive and excited messages, much more than I got negative ones, but I was careless and dropped my guard. Usually when I read feedback, I keep an emotional distance. It makes the positive feedback less rewarding, but also keeps the negative feedack from hurting me, this time I got overexcited and the negative feedback hurt, badly.

I'm not really interested in addressing everything individually. I'm not one for whining when it comes to bad feedback, but I do have to say some things about it this time, because I felt a disconnect that I didn't have in the past. I expected some people to hate the new game, I expected people to be annoyed by the hundred open questions, I expected people to dislike the witch and her pact, but I didn't expect people calling the game average or not even playing because they are afraid the entire game is focused on femdom after 30 minutes of gameplay in a project I'll be spending 2-3 years of work on. And I didn't expect a bunch of 1 star reviews for those very reasons.

Now, I'm not pleading for anyone to change their review or opinion of the game. If you don't like it, that's fine with me. If you think it's just average, that's fine with me. If you don't like the MC being called a "servant", that is absolutely fine with me. I know that Children of Morn won't be for everyone and that is fine. All I want, is some patience. To all the questions I received, all the negative and positive criticism, I can only say, wait for future updates. I'm pretty sure that most things are gonna clear up, that your issues are gonna be addressed and if they aren't addressed in 3-4 updates, than you might simply dislike the game for good and I'll have to go back and start making changes. But for now, I say patience. The plot for Children of Morn is already written out in it's entirety. And like Enna warned when she offered the pact, I can't tell you what exactly you'll see, but I'm convinced that this game will become my best work yet. We'll have to wait for a few years to see if I was right or wrong : D

PS: I did see that the majority of feedback was positive and I thank you very much for it! I don't like focusing on the negative too much, but this time felt like a special occasion to me.

Im not sure why you expect people to love V0.1 of one of your games when the most loveable thing about your games, at least in my opinion, were always the characters whom will need time and content to develop. Tho what ive seen so far looks pretty promising.

Adrien

I personally thought that this was a great v0.1, Looks promising, and a good story, with teasing for the future. I'll certainly stay until the end of this one, like with MIST. Keep up the good work.

Cscope

It's legitimately good. I loved it and look forward for the next update

Jobu's Bitch

There's no question that technically this prologue was very well done. Animations, writing, music, lighting, rendering, etc were all top notch. However, I personally didn't care for the story premise of being an undead servant. Therefore, the prologue didn't really hook me despite being very pretty. That said, it's very early in development and I fully expect this to be addressed as the story unfolds. I mean we don't really know anything about this dude(mc) yet. Keep up the good work 395, you're doing great!

From the technical side, was the prolog superb made, for a prolog it looks very promising, I also feel it has much femdom vibes (servant male and master woman), that many guys out there not tolerate or like to see! You hit a nerve with that and triggered some negative reviews! That you have expect to come, this world not exist there all kind of sexuality liked by everyone. Keep up your script and good work <3 <3 <3

My god the amount of fragile egos and people getting mad about digital waifus in the AVN niche always baffles me. Not all girls are virgins? How dare you, that's NTR! Another male character that has sex with a girl that's not even a LI? Can't have that! Seeing two parents have sex for exactly one render? NOPE I HATE YOU NOW ONE STAR WORST GAME EVER!11!! ... Please don't let them get to you, you can not please those folks, no matter what you do.

I see two things going on here. One is that people like what they like. For example, some only like enormous boobs. Anything less and they say your girl looks like a boy. I've seen designers change their game so all boobs where huge but the result is those who prefer a slimmer figure or find the gigantic boobs unrealistic/freakish don't get what they want. Maybe woman on top freaks out some guys while others don't have that phobia. Some will like your choices, others will not. Some of those who don't will criticize or try to pressure you into changing your choices. That will always happen no matter what you do. But it YOUR story; tell it your way. The second is that there are issues in the game. Some technical, some grammar, etc. Nothing I saw was major or interrupted game play. In fact, it was surprisingly clean for a first release. I have AAA games more than a 10 years old that still have some of those issues. I'm impressed with what you've done so far. It's visually attractive, sexy, and I'm already getting into the story, wondering what will happen next. IMO this is a huge success. When do we get more? :-)

I’m looking forward to some Femdom elements. Adds more variety

Blacklabyrinth

Looks good so far, I agree with an earlier post that the characters will take time to round into form (which is normal). Art looks really good, story is interesting. I'm in. I find the whole Femdom thing a little premature. Let the story progress before judging.

MisterTheCow

I thought I was great, definitely the high production quality of any avn I have seen. It did feel very short though (not a complaint just nature of a first release). To me there was no major flaw. Hope you keep going!

As a story based VN I think its great, models look well made, story seems like it should be interesting, and music was good. Main menu in particular seemed very nice, simple but well done, liked the natural sounds set against the night sky. As an adult game and compared against your others it fell a little flat, main female wasn't horrible but also wasn't particularly great, I am glad she pulls the mask off atleast. None of the other character models we see seemed to catch my eye either, even if they are higher quality/better made they weren't to my taste. As for the role between the main character and his master, its a definite shift from the other games but no complaints about that. I'll continue following this and supporting it because I think it'll be a good story VN, and maybe some of the other characters will appeal to me but I can see why some might be discouraged with how big a shift it is from what they've come to know you for. I'd say thats the biggest thing to think about when you see the negative reviews, its probably not about the quality as much as it is it being different from what they expected from you.
