One by one the expedition would be taken over and then .... they would be stuck in a ruined city buried beneath a harsh desert in southern africa, with only the supplies they had brought with them.

Surrounded on all sides by potentially hostile nations and unable to travel out of africa due to the current political climate .... there's no way they'd get past the TSA for a start.

Movies like The Mummy (the good one with Brendan Frasier) work because they're set in the past, when the world wasn't such an ugly place and there really were blank spaces on the maps. But no I had to be an idiot and try to put it in a contemporary setting.

Moving the story from Africa to South America still had the same ending problem, along with the additional hazard of the rain forest being an extremely hostile environment in it's own right.

Third attempt sputtered out but that was due to me not being happy with the way I'd done things. Recently reworked the story & started re-rendering and I am much happier with the way it looks, once I've finished a couple more pics I'll start posting it here ....
