Quick bug fix (Patreon)

Hi again, my last post appeared to have some issues with lagging and crashes. I've made a quick attempt to fix it, and submitted a new version on the itch. Unfortunately I've gotta run again, so I don't have much time to test it out, so I just have to hope it works. Testing this is a bit tricky since I can't replicate the problem on my computer. Let me know in the comments if this one's better!
