Male Hair Pack #3 (11-15) Preview (Patreon)

Hiya! I'm here with a male hair pack this time! This was a request from a dev friend, so everyone say thank you to Bee, the dev of Eden, an isekai AVN with puzzles and naked ladies!!!! I honestly don't know when I was ever going to make another male hair pack, but coming back to it after so long has been a fun learning experience. I've gotten better at modding since my last male hair pack and I think it's apparent in the quality of this pack(unless it isn't then perhaps I've been amazing at this modding business since the beginning???). I also figured out how to do certain things that I don't do/don't have to do with female hair packs, like gradient colormasks and rigging, so I'm pretty proud of this one! If you'd like to download this pack you can do so here!
These hairs are available in the back/bangs/side hair slots, have dynamic bones, and hairs 12 and 15 are broken up into 2 toggleable/colorable sections. All 5 hairs have at least one dynamic bone for some movement, but this is my first time rigging hair, so please forgive any weird bouncing!
Hairs 12 and 15 are broken up into top and bottom sections as shown below. I did my best working from the original mesh/UV mapping to fill in the hair more and after way too many iterations, was happy with how they turned out. Despite my best efforts, though, the bottom portions of these hairs are quite a bit shorter than the top and can have thinner coverage of the scalp, so they could benefit from a shader change to thicken them up. Hanmen's bluenoise shader with MipScale value increased should do the trick if you want more coverage.
One extra thing I did as a first for this hair pack was figure out gradient colormasks! I never bothered with colormasks for my other hair packs because the hairs I port always had their UVs mapped in a way that the gradients never looked quite how I wanted them to and I figured you could just do a gradient with the mesh tab of character creator. I took another stab at it for this hair pack since the UVs for these hairs are much neater to work with in terms of colormasking, so I was able to make it work pretty nicely!
The hairs by default are just a single color so there are a few steps if you want to have the gradient look. There are 2 colormasks in the zip folder that you have to import into the colormask section in MaterialEditor and adjust the UnderColor for the gradient color. See below for a tutorial in case you're not used to using MaterialEditor for fine tuning hairs. There's a separate colormask for hair 14 since the UV mesh is different from the other 4 hairs in this pack, so make sure if you want to have a gradient for hair 14 that you use the right colormask!
You can even stack the gradient colormask with the mesh tab gradients for even more custom colorways! The example below is just the basic black hair color with my colormask swapped in, red as the UnderColor in MaterialEditor, and a gradient mesh in white from the normal Mesh tab.
Anywho thanks for reading all the way through! If I've convinced you that you need these hairs desperately now, you can get them here! If this pack sells well I might consider making male hair packs more regularly, but if not, at least this will have been a great pack to end on! Okie byeee!!
