Irv did a good job explaining it. Jaime was fighting to take Riverrun, and Brienne asked Jaime if she was able to persuade the Blackfish to take his army and go north with her, Jaime would take the castle with no one in it and it would be peaceful. But the Blackfish denied her, so Brienne failed her mission and got outta there. Jaime allowed her to safely leave.
