This is a record breaking time for finishing a series 🙌👏

Vicki Lewis

I read that Mike Flanagan wants to make it a Multi series apparently, it was weird for me seeing the whole changes from the original material because initially Ralph White (carries dad) carried the telekinesis gene so the mum didn’t have that ability but I loved this series, thanks for your reactions 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

i'm aware mike flanagan tends to not follow books he adapts so i wasn't too surprised when he changed a lot in this series, but i'll have to say i'm really disappointed that he took away her agency at the prom just to flesh out the world building for upcoming seasons, i feel like that could've definitely been done in some other better way. i already try to not get too hung up on the fact that FOUR adaptations later, we've still never gotten a book accurate chubby and unconventionally attractive carrie, which is one of the biggest reasons she gets bullied aside from her personality, and the reason why the symbolism of pig's blood being used matters so much, and yet i try not to focus on that because hollywood is never going to actually cast a non conventionally attractive actress to be a protagonist, but to ALSO take away her biggest moment and give it to a random oc is a definitely... a choice 😭 my reaction about the series overall isn't on either sides of the extreme, i'm neither obsessed with it nor do i despise it, i appreciated the modernization of the story and addition of some subplots, and for the most part i definitely enjoyed my time watching it, but if we're talking solely about the last episode/prom lashing out, then i can't really say i'm not extremely saddened by the potential this series could've had by letting carrie actually be her own actual flawed character. i think the excuse of "no one would support the mc if they were not constantly morally just" is not only cowardly but also factually incorrect, because people definitely have the ability to adore corrupt characters, like the joker, loki, lestat (and like 80% of iwtv characters), hannibal, homelander etc... (i could go on and i could also mention a bunch of female characters as well, but i wouldn't want to accidentally spoil any shows you haven't seen yet) the problem was never that people can't stomach rooting for flawed characters or killers, but it's that complex characters need complex writing and a lot of people don't want to take that risk, especially with women. all this to say, i'm just a bit exhausted with hollywood's constant polishing of source material that was intended to be dark and grim, especially involving complex female characters, however i don't agree with the negative outrage online, and i definitely don't have nostalgia blindess that stops me from enjoying modern contextualization of my favorite stories, people need to chill lol (sorry for the long ass comment again holy shit)

It looks like Flanagan is pulling in some of the larger King universe, specifically 'Firestarter' and the 'Shop' government/military group (I think the interviewer group were definitely involved in the Shop) and Emalyne seems to be a rogue element, possibly part of a gang of 'runaway' girls. So, we have a very interesting setup for season 2 ... :) maybe we'll even get to see Charlie

Never apologize for your comments, they always truly have me processing and thinking which I absolutely love!! I still haven't looked at what everyone has been saying since it's come out but I'm really intrigued to do so, I imagine there's some very powerful arguments and opinions coming from both sides! You add so much to the shows you watch with me by expressing and wording your thoughts so well and I really appreciate that 🫶🏻

I'm so intrigued to see how they progress with season 2!! Really cool to see them building a sort of multiverse with King's work!

i'm glad you appreciate my rambling, i always try to comment something concise but it always turns into word vomit lol. the reaction online for the most part has been positive, but there's also a loud portion of people that either doesn't like the show because they're tired of carrie remakes, or they're mad that carrie is still being portrayed as a skinny beautiful girl (which i agree with to an extent). regardless of complaints, the show's been doing pretty good, and mike flanagan has enough of a dedicated fanbase, so i'm certain this won't affect the production of upcoming seasons :]
