Ohhh, I used to love this show. Had me discover fanfiction afterwards because I couldn’t get enough.

MavenCree

Literally listened to part of this sound track yesterday. Still love it.

What a fun reaction!! I love this show so much and I'm excited to watch it again. The only thing I hate is that they changed the original soundtrack, I heard that they did it but it's so weird to me, because when I watch it is with my 20 year old DVDs 😅 and they have the original songs, which were epic. Sad about that!

@baydreamer

Brian is a d*ck but he's hot and, in the end, lovable. (The actor who plays him is straight, btw). Justin is a cutie. And I want Emmett as my gay bestie. ❤️

Nick Stark

This show brings back so many great memories. Back when it first aired it was a first of its kind. A trailblazer. I have to say you are very intuitive. Your first impression of these characters is quite impressive. Don’t want to give anything away so that’s all I’ll say other than, can’t wait for another episode. Glad to hear you’re open to doing more than one a week. We have six seasons to go through.

Kiana Banks

One of my favorite shows… easily best lgbqt+ shows ever!!!

Dave

So happy you have started QaF! Looking forward to rewatching it all over again & seeing you discover it for the first time. I’m getting ahead of myself but once you finish all the seasons, it would be interesting if you were to maybe watch the first episode of the British version to see what you think.

Mia89

This show means so much to me.

Ben Gilbert

The title comes from an old saying, "There's naught as queer as folk." (There's nothing as strange as people.) Also Hal Sparks was the host of Talk Soup before Joel McHale.

Kurt Lindquist

I’m so here to ride this ride with you Dylan. I haven’t seen this since the original run, but I do remember absolutely loving Michael’s mom.

Beck Huston

Love this show. Every once in a while just to dip my toes back into the water with it, I will watch the first and last episodes. Just to see the bookends of the series. The writing for this show is amazing. The inter-relationships of the 5 main guys and the two ladies is always so well written.

Vicki Lewis

I loved this reaction, Brian reminds me of Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries, I have seen all of the UK version of this series which has a young Charlie Hunnam in it. I love that one and I loved the first episode of this. Nice one Dylan… much love 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I had forgotten how fun this show was. Haven't watched it since it originally aired. I'm really looking forward to these reactions. I know Brian is supposed to be the big heartthrob of the show but I always had a thing for Michael.

Andre

I haven’t seen this in forever. Brought back memories. I enjoyed how unapologetically provocative this show was. Just not PC at all. They tried to remake the show a few years ago and failed miserably bc they completely sanitized it and end up taking all the FUN out of it in a modern day attempt to not offend anyone.

Joe Lancaster

First queer show I ever watched. So excited to watch it again with you! ❤️

Michael

Ah - just realised after hearing the accents that this is not the original UK version, but the American version.

Jill

Brings back memories. I’ve seen this series multiple times, including in its original run. I love Brian and Michael’s friendship. Justin’s age bugs me and I personally never get past that. I really love watching your reaction these shows by the way, thanks.

Hanna Quinn

Im so excited you started QAF!! I love this show, even though it can be a little outdated some times it’s still very relevant in today’s times. I’m always rewatching this show and I feel you’re going to love it! I feel like Emmet is, arguably, the best character in the best character in the show! Loved the reaction, can’t wait to see more! 🩷✨

Surprise surprise I’ve never watched it 😞 but so far looks really good!

kelvin

I was gagged when i watched this back in the day, and I’m still kinda gaggged this ever aired. Great memories. 😍

I greatly appreciate you being here and I can't wait to see more 🙏🏻🫶🏻

I love this idea, thank you! And I greatly appreciate you being here 🫶🏻

gothamnightlights

Thank you so much for being here, and I hope you've been well Kurt!! 🙏🏻🩶

I really enjoyed the first episode and I can't wait to watch the next! I can't believe I had never heard of this show until earlier this year. From what I've read it had a big impact on a bunch of people!

petulantetuk

I think it was related to the copyright of the music when they put the show in streaming platforms, they did not have the rights to do that if I'm correct

gothamnightlights

I hope you've been well Hanna, and I appreciate you being here! I'm excited to see more from this show for sure :) 🫶🏻

gothamnightlights

Thank you so much for your kind words Jill, I hope you're doing well :) I'm very intrigued to see what is coming next in this show!

Ben Gilbert

They did the same thing with the original Northern Exposure DVDs. They replaced the songs played on the juke box in the Cafe and on Chris in the Morning. The streaming versions on Amazon seem to have the original music.

Rob George

I've not seen the US version. It will be interesting to see if it compares favourably with the original.

Alan

I can't believe I'm going down this rabbit hole with you. This show truly helped me figure out who I am. There was nothing like it. I love your reactions so much to HR, I am sat for this!

Mark Edwards

Love seeing this through your eyes, as usual. To answer your question, Showtime was the second-tier pay cable channel compared to HBO. During this period, HBO built its reputation with Sex in the City and The Sopranos. Russell Mulcahy directed the pilot. Early in his career he helped create the music video category. He did “Video Killed the Radio Star,” the first video MTV played, then went on to work with many of the most significant 80s acts including the Sex Pistols, Duran Duran, the Human League, Culture Club, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and Paul McCartney. Clearly his background and style played a huge role in the look of QaF.

Alessia Scalora

I was around for this show when it first started and can easily say I was obsessed with this show as much as I am with Heated Rivalry today. It was seriously groundbreaking at the time. It was a little cringy at times and looking back really wouldn't fly today. But it was so common for those age gaps back then. This is going to bring back such great memories and excited for you to watch it! Also, fun fact this show was shot entirely in Canada!

gothamnightlights

Thank you so much for being here, I'm excited to see what this series has in store for me!

gothamnightlights

Thank you so much for being here! Truly so grateful for you 🫶🏻

Siranna

Haven’t seen that for so long - always loved that show 💕 Great to see it again through new eyes xx Thank you!!!

gothamnightlights

Thank you so much for this lovely comment and for being here! I’m very grateful for you 🙏🏻🫶🏻

Siranna

Looking forward to watching more with you x Its also great seeing the beginnings when you know how the stories unfold - picking up on things I missed the first time round 🤔 and yes I’m straight but I had a crush on Brian Kinny just like my gay friends 💕

shamikun

wow the editing in this show is so sexy
