I am enjoying your reaction. I watched it when it first aired, 20+ years ago. I lost friends and partners back then and it’s wild to reflect on how different things were in terms of attitudes and acceptance compared to the present day. Despite the vast medical developments since then, the relationship dynamics and issues around coming out and opening up to friends and family continue to challenge many. I appreciate your insights and thoughtful analysis. Keep up the good work.

I bet you might like Tales of the City (1993), only 6 episodes, and More Tales of the City (1998), another 6 episodes. Then they did a sequel series in 2019 that was 10 episodes. They're based on Armistead Maupins's books.

Ben Gilbert

Yes! Starring the great Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis, and Billy Campbell who was in The Rocketeer. Republicans tried to remove PBS' funding for showing it because of its positive portrayal of gays.

Rob George

Oh definitely yes. Yes. Fun fact, years ago I met someone on whom Maupin based one of the peripheral characters.

Maupin has a YouTube channel where he reminisces about different times in his life

I was reflecting on Prior's speech in this episode, about things reaching an end point. Maybe he was a prophet. There's a view that addiction to progress, particularly economic progress, is fundamentally destructive. Did you work out who played the homeless person? Most of the cast play multiple roles.

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved ones. I can't even imagine that kind of pain in a time that was so scary and confusing 🙏🏻
