I want to ask, do you get any bonuses for buying the Steam Edition, or is it the same as the free edition on the website? I'd personally rather not spend $15 and change on something that isn't any different than the publicly available version if there are no upsides.

It's somewhere between the Silver and Gold Editions. See here: https://outsiderartisan.miraheze.org/wiki/Editions_(Hex) The major thing you get is early access to updates, some/most of the premium updates, and all the premium cosmetics (for both Iris and your throne realm attendant). The only thing you're missing really from the Gold Edition is the offering box, which is basically a bunch of cheat items.

Ah, okay. Guess I'll save a bit to buy it then after I buy a replacement mouse, a replacement tracker for my VR, and a replacement headstrap and faceplate for my quest 2
