Death Stranding presets: Natural and Cinematic.  Each one of them has Raytracing (RT) and Non-Raytracing (Non-RT) versions. Presets can be used for the Death Stranding and the Death Stranding Director's Cut Edition.

Preset Showcase: https://youtu.be/-ZRkGSo_rU4

Quick guide: --------------------------------------------------------------------

01. Download Reshade: https://reshade.me/ and run downloaded file

02. Select the game in the list (ds.exe)

03. Choose the proper rendering API (For this game select DirectX 10/11/12)

04. Select and download all effect (shader) packages

05. For Presets Non-RT you can skip this step. But for Presets RT you should get mcflypg's RTGI shader (5$ tier): https://www.patreon.com/mcflypg/

06. Download my Reshade Preset(s) archive(s), extract it and put extracted files (.ini file and the reshade-shaders folder) into the game folder where the .exe file is located (Overwrite if asks)

07. Check in-game Reshade interface. You should see these shaders below as active in this order:

[ If the shader has the (Opt.) sign next to it, that shader is optional for a specific preset. You can disable them from Reshade GUI. These, however, are well-balanced and I recommend keeping them enabled ]

AMD FidelityFX ContrastAdaptiveSharpening@CAS.fx

Note: I often use two methods of sharpening in my presets. One is for textures/surfaces. The second is for objects' edges. If you're playing at 1440p or 1080p and the image looks oversharpened, try turning off one of these sharpening shaders: Clarity, AMD FidelityFX CAS, AdaptiveSharpen or LumaSharpen.

Note: Some shaders may give a very subtle effect in some areas. However, they have a significant impact on other environments. So I recommend you don't turn off any shaders if you want the preset to work as it should. I'll always let you know when there are optional shaders in my presets.

If you need more guidance you can watch step-by-step video tutorials on how to install Reshade and set up the in-game overlay, Also how to install RTGI shader (For RT presets) and configure Depth Buffer properly here:

Reshade Installation and Setup Guide

. . .

Important: Presets were tweaked and tested in SDR (Non-HDR) game/monitor mode. It may not look decent in HDR mode. To deactivate HDR mode, go to in-game Display/Graphics settings. Also disable HDR for your Monitor, or set HDR levels to low. You can also try to tweak presets using extra shaders like: LevelsPlus, PD80_03_Levels or curves by yourself for HDR TV.

I plan to release HDR presets separately in the future if the project runs well with your support.

The same image looks different on different screens. You might need some tweaking for your monitor's brightness/contrast/saturation if Reshade differs from the showcase.

Hey there, I downloaded everything for the RT presets for your reshade (and did the proper set up of RTGI and depth buffer using the video you posted) but get a error when compiling the preset on the reshade homescreen for V_texlut. The log says "| ERROR | Source "screenreel_Death Stranding RT Natural_v1.0.png" for texture 'V__texLUT' was not found in any of the texture search paths!"

Prince. K

I managed to solve it, the texture file was missing a png from your files. Amazing preset, great job!

Screenreel

Right. I'm always combining color grading shaders in LUT for more performance. You have to copy/paste .ini files and the reshade-shaders folder into your game directory to get fully working presets. Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it. Cheers :)

Regarding the look though, I did have a question. Do you remember your ingame settings for Death Stranding? The preset looks nice, but my game still doesn't look quite as good as yours. I have a 4070 gpu and ryzen 7 cpu with all settings maxed out and motion blur + depth of field off. I am using DLSS on quality as well. I tried DLSS on and off and the image looked roughly the same. I tried adjusting the gamma and color settings of my laptop screen and nothing quite achived the look you had of this present on the video your posted on YT or the screenshots here. Any other mods you used? Your reflections for example, on your gear, looks alot more glossy than it does for mine.

Screenreel

I wasn't using extra mods. By your description, I guess the RTGI shader is not working for you. Lets make sure the preset fully works, can you take Reshade ON and OFF screenshots (same location, don't move mice) then upload screenshots here - https://imgsli.com and give me the link. (Better take screenshots of some location with grass so I can easily identify). Also, after you take ON/OFF screens, find "DisplayDepth" shader into your reshade shaders list, activate it (check the box), take screenshot and send with any image host. (after that just disable "DisplayDepth")

Prince. K

I'm playing on 2560x1400p resolution and maxed out settings (with DLSS on quality) now with DOF and motion blur enabled when taking these screenshots. Do let me know if I should be turning some settings on or off to better help you understand what's happening. Now that you mentioned RTGI not working, I definitely see the shadows remaining the same before and after the preset being applied. Yet I followed your YouTube video regarding the RTGI and depth buffer setting perfectly. The game settings still has the proper left and right sides tuned to how it should look and the depth buffer was also set according to how you instructed in the video.

Prince. K

Actually, I think I just made it work. RTGI seems to be working but has a weird ghosting effect on Sam and the environment when moving. Any fix for that?

Screenreel

Judging by your screenshots RTGI is not working at all. Send me the screenshot with enabled "DisplayDepth" shader also. Besides your vanilla game looks too washed out, decrease in-game gamma or set in-game gamma/brightness/contrast to default. RTGI "Ghosting" appears when there is problem with motion estimation shader. Make sure that there is " qUINT_opticalflow@qUINT_of.fx shader " on top of " RTGlobalIllumination@qUINT_rtgi.fx " as I'm showing in the original post above. (the presets you've downloaded already contain qUINT_opticalflow) Let me know. We will fix this for sure
