Releasing the song I wrote for you soon. Sacred Stone. It’ll find its way to you if it should intuitively know the path. If the door should be open to it on the other side, it will flow freely knowing it’s welcome. It will ride in invisible tide, except to those who know its eyes, reading between the lines.

Thanks Bobby. Hey is there a reason you launched this Whole Thing (patreon) after your show in Rockford ill @ the beautiful Coronado Theatre ? Wild timing for yours truly Anyway heres a poem i wrote that night concerning you/your performance in respects: “Transcendental geriatric mumblecore from the true American Gargoyle himself under artificial starlit shadows TONIGHT, the facade of beautiful Spanish Castles built for illusion inside the dream theatre of the historic Coronado “ @bobby , hope your spirit is feeling young Again - jb

We should go back to having school for only 2 months per year. The school system has always been about preparing kids for work, and that was fine when the goal was to become a farmer or raise a family. Public school only serves corporate interests now. Kids are held prisoner 170 days per year, learning nothing that is conducive to their survival. They're forced to endure a grievous waste of their time under threat of negative repercussions for their parents. And parents can't deal with those consequences when they have to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. "I saw no conflict between science and faith." More than 160 years later and not much progress has been made here. A lot of information is held back from the public because it would shatter the control mechanisms set in place by religion. Just my opinion. Favorite quotes: "A man should discover his duty, trust God, and perform that duty with all his strength." "Our duty is to act faithfully and to the best of our ability; the results belong to God." I've never been much of a history buff, so I appreciate this series as a digestible way to learn. Looking forward to Part 2 and other biographies.

Ouf I'm intrigued to listen to this but I just haven't the bandwidth at the mo 🙈. Maybe I will have tomorrow.... I can't focus, I'm tensioned so much I feel like I might snap... I'm just watching the hours tick by

Interesting read! I appreciate hearing more of a humanistic POV instead of southern vs northern. Thanks for posting and looking forward to part 2

The narrator’s voice is quite relaxing

Thank you for this story, Sir, and blessings on your summer tour. I found a lot of interest in the story of Stonewall Jackson. I lived many years in the Shenandoah Valley. Berryville was rural and beautiful. The house we rented on a farm was on the border line of Virginia and West Virginia. Even our sons developed an interest, and we loved to visit the battlefields, particularly in Gettysburg. I am always heartened by the good character of historical figures. General Jackson’s treatment of slavery; his care and humane treatment of the slaves, and their children, was very encouraging. Something that also meant a lot was his relentless effort to learn, in spite of being behind the others at West Point. His studying well into the night in order to catch up tells so much about his character. I look forward to learning more about General Jackson. Sending my appreciation and prayers always 🕊️

Thank you, Bob. I will listen without distractions later tonight. Safe travels on your summer tour. (The show in Baton Rouge seems like such a long time ago, I’m ready for another one asap! ..Houston is making wishes to the stars for you)

The lives of military generals isn't a topic I usually give much thought to but this was engrossing. I listened to it while I baked a cake this afternoon. Hope to see you again with the whole family in July 💖

virginia, virginia, virginia ;))

The way I interpret this is that perhaps "Stonewall" wasn't such a genius, but rather had difficulty improvising so he froze and refused to withdraw. Dissociating a bit, sounds like. I gather this from his rigid rule adherence and his moral ground. I really did not know anything about him before today. Looking forward to part two in order to find out more.

Whoa. I feel a lot of respect for this man (the subject of war itself not being what I'm entering into here...). I particularly like his humility and his highly discriminating and discerning qualities of mind, and his persevering nature. Also, what 'courage' meant to him (right at the end of the audio) in the context of his big picture clarity of what 'duty' was to him. After listening to this I got to thinking about precision and vagueness (in communication with words). Both have their place, and someone can exercise both equally well I reckon... And there could be a lot of precision underneath "apparent vagueness"... It's the intelligence and integrity with which either is being used in a particular situation that matters. And they can both become a trap of course.

Providence (and we’re not talking Rhode Island) that’s the secret word here.

The gift will be on concert 14

All this about perseverance - 100% agree. This idea of 'grit' (night-in and night-out) and the strength of character required to go from a zero starting point and shape life into something different. 'Night after night, I studied while many slept. Never pass over anything that I didn't totally understand ... thoroughness would prevail ... fixed determination ... never abandon a task until it is mastered' Feel maybe same approach with performing Rough and Rowdy Ways songs - yes, maybe an ongoing framework for self-expression, but also in that they are still being 'mastered'? This has been my approach to digging to decades of Bob Dylan music the past year or so, catching up on missed decades trying not to look back :) Genuinely try to learn all can of what have been digging into so far, like to truly understand as much as possible of the details and how they it all fits into the big picture (like at first wasn't sure that was 'Rainy Day Women #12 & 35' being played since have barely listened to pre-S-L albums because busy listening to modern stuff, including all these posts & stories and reading adjacent stuff). Couldn't tell you all the songs on Blonde on Blonde, but forever know how to say, spell Hickok and who Charmian Kittredge was (and that she knew shorthand) :) The songs have really explored so far (RaRW, SK, Tempest, Infidels, UtRS, EB, LaT, anything been playing since '25, misc things come across) have really been throwing my mind into those songs to think about them with dedicated attention. Think listening to these audio stories requires attention in a way that helps the ideas reach your mind through different pathways than from just reading

Julia

Wait, so how does this idea of providence line up with say, MItLBC 'there are no mistakes'? That part of the song how sung now gets to me - and the idea of 'some people' ('the world'). Like 99 problems and they are from needing people in life :)

Cheers to perseverance, natural living and simple silk dresses🤍✨💋

Boring voice. Makes it hard for me (non English speaking) to hear the words. Guess this is ai. Would be cool if Bob read it. Looking forward to hear I Shall Be Released from yesterday in Eugen! Love to You Mr. Bob!
