Yes Bob, thanks I only know 1 of the two! That will change soon. I’m here there and everywhere.. like you! Still have some to read more; I’m behind! Yes thats possible… But it doesn’t matter… Hear you🌷

"Sometimes fear points directly toward the work we are meant to do." Been trying to remember this lately; it's comforting to see it here.

‘Courage is carrying on while fear rides beside you’ ❤️ Hauntingly beautiful show in San Diego last night. Thankyou Bob!

I really like this one. Words of wisdom from the modern grave it seems. Fear changes its form throughout the realms of time / outside of time I imagine it could be seen more clearly /whilst hearts are at rest. I would like to keep it that way.

Now I’m thinking of the ending of Final Escape. (1985) I’ll never forget how horrified I was when she lit the match inside the coffin. It probably contributed to my claustrophobia issues.

Robin Georgens

Fear takes so many shapes—psychological, spiritual, and emotional everyday—these two artists very likely did reflect on it from their unique perspectives - - the weight of responsibility, the quiet terrors that come with being human. Observing the faith and resilience needed to face it — courageous.

Sharon Eavenson

Thank you Bob for reminding me that fear is a thing all humans must face and that it often reveals aspects of ourselves. Great letters and I really enjoy your unique way of putting yourself into these characters. It is a talent that only great writers possess. ✍️😉💯❤️

I can’t thank you enough, Sir. This is a beautiful letter. You have given so much … and you keep giving more. I’ve heard you, and am learning. My favorite quote is, “If there were no risk of disappointment, there would be little need for faith.” Thank you again … praying for your faith, health and peace 🕊️

Interesting letter. As someone who has known fear fairly often, I find this so relatable. I dislike fear intensely. It has stolen a good amount of time from me, and that time will never be regained. Of course I am in a current situation where I have an opportunity to create something I really believe in. But fear of failing is pretty much holding me hostage. So, yes, this letter was relatable. Thanks for posting this.

I fear the rain is going to wash away heaven. I fear the rudeness of others. I fear my own heart when it crosses the line to reach out for what it wants. The fear has come over me many times over the years. It is irrational, pure emotion, uncontrollable, only sleep puts its fire out.

Gracie Lindsay

“Fear is apart of being Human” My Father instilled in me as a child, “always face your fears bud” I look fear right in the eyes. I was born a daredevil. A sweet one of course.

Wonderful letter Bob Dylan. I appreciate the time you take to sort out these letters. You share so generously, ya always have. Thank you Sir.

Fear can be both useful and wasteful. They say, confidence is not the absence of fear but the ability to push through and do it anyway. I say confidence comes from trust. Trust in the self, trust in the all that is. But fear can be a difficult beast to wrangle. So I choose instead to trust. And before long, the fear melts away… Whatta great letter boo, thank you for this. Helpful as always. I love ya ta-bits xoxo🌊🫶🏽💌

Al Jolson to Alan Ginsberg, please Bob!

In this letter Bob Dylan says things about Hitchcock that not even Francois Truffaut ever said. And says things about Bob that only Bob could say. Thanks Bob! "...Sometimes fear points directly toward the work we are meant to do. If there were no risk of disappointment, there would be little need for faith".

Magdalena Greenspan (@inkbetweenwords)

I greatly enjoyed the letter. Sometimes I forget that even those with the most admirable faith or the greatest earthly success still wrestle with fear. After all, even He, who possessed perfect faith, is said to have experienced profound fear in the Garden of Gethsemane. If fear were not woven into the fabric of being human, that scene would be difficult to make sense of. My favorite line in the letter was: “Sometimes fear points directly toward the work we are meant to do. If there were no risk of disappointment, there would be little need for faith.”

Thank you very much for the many words of encouragement in the letters. Courage and confidence - I will lose neither. I will keep fighting. Stay healthy and strong, Bob. 🍀

“I hope you found moments of peace amid all the tension you so brilliantly depicted. I hope you knew that beyond every frightening scene stood millions of people who found delight, wonder, and even comfort in the stories you told.” 💐💐💐 Bob Dylan, Please enjoy the flowers 🩷 You are one hell of an Artist. The Greatest, to say the least. All my love, admiration, and respect to you.

Thats wonderfully written.. So recognizable too. Fear we all have each day life carries us… We know why, cuz we’re not truly in the leading role in our lifes… But with trusting ourselves first and foremost, we can let fear ride besides us without being disturbed by it. We ought to see fear as our life compagnon, guiding us. But do not let it lead you. Sherlock is remembered for his suspense and exiting sweat-creating feary situations. He lives on🌺❗️🕊️ Thank you Bob Dylan🌹❣️🌷

From another viewpoint we can be reminded that an opposite of fear could be courage and that Ernest Hemingway wrote to F. Scott Fitzgerald in a letter exactly 100 years ago that courage is “grace under pressure.” This linkage of courage and the timely application of grace has been quoted extensively.

Love this the best! Thanks Bob

Sherry

If Bob did not in fact, write this himself, you can certainly see what drew him to it. Again, this is another one that has me sitting here thinking.
