We're starting a new month and I've been changing up a bit of plans. I've so far been doing well with making the next batch of reviews during the week, along with doing some other errands outside of videos that kept me busy. However, while I was making these videos, I realized that I would have to make a few updates regarding my schedule for when videos will have to be uploaded. I'll explain more in detail on this Blog to that you're the first to know about this, but it made me think ahead a bit, especially with circumstances that I have to work around with. With that said, here's how my week has been,

  • Released my review of Thelma the Unicorn: While many critics were targeting The Garfield Movie as one of the worst animated films of the year so far for being unappealing generic, I'd argue that the one who deserves that title more than the fat cat is Thelma the Unicorn. It's like it took the blandness of Garfield and double down on it to become this unpleasant experience. It's almost self-aware that it lacks creativity, but doesn't want to put in the effort to compensate for that, believing that it could get away with it because it's a "Kids' Film" and just make the animation more cartoony as a distraction. Granted, the visuals are pretty good, but I can tell from the directing that it's a cheap tactic to take the attention away from the poor writing. There was potential at first with how this is from the people who made Napoleon Dynamite and that it was based on a book by the same author as The Bad Guys, but this feature is nowhere near the quality of either movies and they are far more enjoyable that what Netflix just bought out. Like the pony herself, this is nothing but a flashy gimmick to sell something that is so dull.

  • Working on the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: After taking care of those new reviews, I moved on to getting back into ACR and give that some attention again so that I can catch up with what's coming on that series. As you probably know, the next review will be The Powerpuff Girls Movie, and while this is a relatively short animated feature, I ended up having a lot to talk about with this one. I won't say if what I will talk about is either good or bad regarding the film, but since I used to regularly watch the show when I was a kid back during Cartoon Network's golden beginnings, along with doing past research on the subject with the Animation Lookbacks of Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network, I was able to discuss many of the elements that the film presents compared to how it was with the original series. As you're reading this, because this is a larger review that initially expected, I'm still in the editing stage of this one, but it shouldn't take me too long to put in the final pieces and the video will be ready soon. It's just that now, I have to put that on hold to give more focus on something else.

  • Currently working on my review of Jim Henson: Idea Man: I've been asked before if I was going to talk about this documentary, especially when this is very hyped amongst fans of the Muppets. Of course, I was always interested in watching this, but the timing of the release feels too perfect. It's only been under 2 months since I completed Animation Lookback: The Muppets, so now that I'm still fresh out of my own documentary related to Jim Henson, I guess it makes sense that I talk about the latest one that was made on a much higher caliber than what I, or ever Kevin Perjurer of Defunctland, did. However, I won't be making this as a regular scripted review. Because it will be much easier on me and keep up with the tradition, this will be part of The Muppet Vlog where I will do a vlog-style review with this one, which I don't mind. I'll have this video out by next week, but as I was preparing to make this video, it had me thinking about what to release this month.

  • Updates to the June Schedule for my Videos: With the inclusion of the Jim Henson: Idea Man video, I realized that I need to make some serious changes regarding my schedule for which videos to release this month. That and there is also the dilemma of both Pixar's Inside Out 2 and Netflix's Ultraman Rising releasing on the same day, and the chances of me getting an early screening for one of them so that I can work around that are now becoming slim. That's why I took the initiative to change things up to work with something that'll be for the best for both my videos and my well-being to avoid overworking myself. Here's what I got planned so far for the month of June.

JUNE 7: Jim Henson: Idea Man Review

JUNE 14: The Powerpuff Girls Movie Review

JUNE 21: Inside Out 2 Review

    JUNE 28: Ultraman Rising Review

The only thing that may change is if I suddenly get lucky to get an early screening for either of the new movies so that I can have enough time to make a review for that one the 14th and delay The Powerpuff Girls Movie a little later. The one catch is that I'll have to delay the big History video to early July, which isn't too bad, because I'll have a bit of extra time to polish it to make it even better. I still have some work to do to have some of these videos ready, but I feel happy with this plan. I think I'll be able to make this work without going to hard on myself with it. As you can see, there's still some exciting stuff coming soon!

And that is my whole week to prepare for this month. Not only getting some of the next reviews ready, but also mapping out how will I be moving forward. It should be too long that those will be set and I'll move on for what's next for me during the summer while also opening up for what life will have ahead of me outside of my videos. I'm excited to have the nice weather again, but I'm also hyped to see what other crazy projects await me. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

Recently watched The Powerpuff Girls Movie. I think it’s decent. I’ll be waiting for your opinion.
