Update Blog - 10/1/22 (Patreon)

This will be my final Update Blog that I shall be writing to you...while I'm still in my 20s. Soon it will be my birthday (October 5th) and I can say right now that, with a big milestone coming for me, there will be plenty of celebrations happening during the weekend, so on top of the work that's ahead of me, I'm going to have to brace myself for the parties that my friends and family have planned for me (which, of course, I am excited for). Anyways, here's what I did this week.
- Released my review of When They Cry: I've probably said this before in the blogs, but it's been a long time since I've done a review of a series that requires me to watch around 50 episodes or more. That's when I knew that, for the editing, I'm gonna have to change up a bit of the format so that I don't clog my hard drives with dozens of episodes for one review. As a result, I did a bit like the reviews for newly released theatrical films where I put up images at certain points to present what I"m talking about instead of going through hours of clips. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and, at least for any future reviews that may require me to watch a bunch of episodes like this, this will be how I'll create the reviews to save me both time and space on my computer. As for the series itself, it's a very well-made anime, I'll give it that. The first series was definitely a freaky trip and the second, while not as gripping as its predecessor, does wrap everything up to answer all the questions necessary. I may not go back to it because some of those girls scare me, but still quite good for what it is.
- Working on the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: I'll admit that the process took a little slower than expected because of certain side projects that suddenly pop up, but I managed to also get the ACR for November already complete. It was a bit step-by-step where I could only have time to get one part of the production done per day, but then once the small stuff was done with, I ramped up the speed and focused entirely on the review and managed to get that complete. The only thing I will say about it is that, so far, I've been getting a really good streak with these ACRs where I've been getting great movie after great movie. At the very least, this will go on for the rest of the year, so I will be praising more films in the future.
- Created a new Interview: Just like I recently did with the co-creator of Defenders of Alodia, I got contacted to do another interview to talk with an animator on their new project. This time, the person is not trying to promote their crowdfunding campaign, but instead, this is an animator who is making their big debut with their first big project that they want to show off in film festivals and other major platforms to make a name for themselves. What's interesting to note is that this person ddi work with a few prominent animators on YouTube like Doofus Goobus, so there is a chance that you might find something familiar with their works. I'll have this interview ready for next week.
- Getting back into Animation Lookback: The Muppets: After going through all the requests from Patreon like the anime reviews, the art commissions and a few extra videos on the side, I can finally go back to making Part 3 of AL: The Muppets. It's honestly been so long that I've done Part 2 that I mainly took the time this week to get back into the mindset of telling this story and where I am with it now that The Muppet Show is done and the team shifted their focus onto movies. What will be the biggest challenge with this part will not be either to make this different from Defunctland's mini-series or doing the research. It will be if I can get this done by next month. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to have this complete and ready around the same time as Halloween. If not, then maybe early November around the same time as some reviews of the upcoming Netflix films. It's been a while and a little exhausting, but it's great to be back.
So that's the list of what I've done this week. I'll definitely have some work to do as we enter into this new month, but also...it's gonna be birthday time and it looks like people will be making a big deal with me turning 30 :P So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
