I'm officially 30! Funny how some seem to be shocked about this, but this is primarily to say that this was my birthday week. While I may not have necessarily done a whole lot of work with my videos (I even took the day off on my birthday), but I did spend a wonderful time with friends and family to celebrate and there's apparently more to come that they have planned! However, there are still some things I can report on what I did, so let's talk about that.
- Released my Interview with Haley Jameson (Oaty): This is a little change of pace compared to some of the others. This isn't really to promote a crowdfunding campaign or whatever program they want to show off. This is mostly to help an up-and-coming animator to get their name out there and show off their first major project to show off how they can handle their own piece of animation. Honestly, (don't tell anyone this), but this is one of my best interviews yet, even better than the previous one. It may have been tough to edit so that I have to shorten up the pauses between her answers, but it all came out very nice and both her and the short's producer were very happy with the results, even with the little clips of her other works in-between. I know YouTube doesn't like it when I do these videos and punish me by tanking my growth because I'm not blowing my lid off by ranting about a cartoon, but these are always nice to make and I do hope I've made my part to give more awareness to the next generation of animators out there :)
- Released my Reaction to The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Admittedly, this was a little impromptu of me where I decided not only would I livestream my reaction on Twitch where it would be live at the same time as the Nintendo Direct, but to also record it where I'd turn that into a video. I know that, normally, this would be something that I'd reserve for AniMat's Crazy Cartoon Cast (and yes, I will be talking about it on Monday too), but I decided why not try something a little special and upload some extra content, especially since there was only the Interview this week. This was more of a fun experiment to turn a quick livestream and turn it into an edited video. Admittedly, before my birthday, I didn't expect that I'd make something like this on my main channel, but as long as people enjoyed it, then I'm glad I did it!
- Writing Animation Lookback: The Muppets Part 3: The most that I did in terms of work is getting into the script of AL: The Muppets Part 3. Even with the limited time that I had, I've actually made some solid progress on it so far. In fact, I'm almost done where all I need to do is keep writing the final segment and it should be good to go to have my fact-checkers look into it and move on to the next step. It will definitely not be easy to get the time to have this prepared by the end of the month (especially with all the birthday plans), but it is not impossible and could be able to pull it off. I'll admit that, at least for the writing, this is going much smoother than last time with no additional obstacles, but it will still come out as a great part nonetheless! Let's hope I can say the same for both the recording and editing.
- Announced my TikTok Channel: As a way to celebrate my 30th birthday, not only did you receive a very early preview of next week's review of Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, but I also made the reveal that I'm on TikTok now. It's honestly been a while that I've considered doing it and I never found the time to commit to getting started on making content there throughout the year. To be honest, I've already started last month uploading some stuff and I actually got a very good start where my first Animation Fact video went viral (with almost 200K views as of this blog). I am considering to upload them onto other platforms as well like on YouTube Shorts, Facebook and Twitter, but that will be on a later date. If you want to join my new adventure on Tiktok, check out my new account right here.
- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Tuesday the 11th, and Thursday the 13th and both at 2pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat.
And that was the work side of my birthday week. Thank you all so much for the well wishes recently and all of your amazing support over the years. They've really been an amazing help in my life and they've been a wonderful fuel to keep all this going and for my work to be bigger and better than ever before. Lots of more exciting stuff coming, so until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
