This was a pretty busy week for me where every day, there was always something that I have to do, rather it be showing up in a livestream (like my podcast or at someone else's) or going out for appointments. However, I was still able to get some time to work on videos and even have them ready for release! I honestly expected this to get overwhelmingly cluttered, but I managed to keep it in control and got a lot done as a result. With that said, here's what I've done with my videos.
- Released my review of Beast Wars: Transformers: I know this series was bigger than the max amount of episodes I put in my guidelines, but I made this an exception because the patron who asked me to review this requested me before I made the rule change. That's why I gave that a pass and made that my last big series for me to review. With that said, after the positive response from the Kill la Kill review, it encouraged me to try that vlog style with this one, and honestly, I feel like I got it down better with this one! I made all my points clear, made sure the editing keeps this entertaining and informative enough with showing all the clips of what I'm talking about, and sprinkling in a bit of humor from what I've noticed in the show. I wouldn't call this one perfect and I wouldn't be surprised if some say that I went a little too hard on the animation, but I cannot deny that this was a pretty good show. As a Transformers series, it did the job well and kept me entertained with all the action it supplies with each episode. I never thought Beast Wars would return to my life to give me a bit more confidence in my work.
- Finished Editing Animation Lookback: The Muppets Part 5: I thought all my other errands and appointments would take time away from working on this video. What actually happened was that I overestimated how much time they would take. In between all of that, I was still able to go and put all the pieces together for the next part. I'll say now that this is probably going to be one of the best parts of the whole series. I'm really happy with the way this turned out. It's surprisingly longer than expected, going for between 40 - 45 minutes (but I did do some revisions and even added some extra trivia while I was editing). However, this is one where the emotions of the story will be stronger than before and will be entering a new chapter that will look upon some nostalgic classics. I can't wait to show you what I have in store with Part 5, which will be ready to come out at the end of this month.
- Created a Sponsored Plug: 2023 seems to be quite a year where my videos have been getting sponsors. Admittedly, some did go well and others have taught me what to do next time so that I don't get screwed over. However, I will say that this is possibly my biggest one yet. So big, in fact, that this will be featured on AL: The Muppets Part 5. I know, I never put a sponsored plug on a history video (at least I think), but this one is a big exception because this is my first Disney sponsor (yes, an official Disney sponsor). I won't go into specifics just yet, but others have done plugs for this in particular and we agreed that it's a perfect fit for AL. I won't go too crazy with this ad, but I think Puppet AniMat will be best to talk about this one.
- I was a guest in a Oscar-Themed Livestream: I don't know why, but I guess I'm a great choice when it comes to talking about animation in award shows. I already appeared on PaleoSteno's livestream where we talked about the Annie Awards, and then I showed up on a special stream from Rachel of Rachel's Reviews and Rotoscopers to talk about the animated nominees at this year's Oscars. One great benefit from the stream was that she helped me get a press screening of all the animated shorts, which was very helpful in keeping my vow to watch all the animated shorts and movies that get nominated at the Oscars, and the stream turned out great. There were plenty of opinions where we don't agree with in terms of some movies, but we still had a lot of fun during the show and reminis about last year's movies and some of our favorites. If you'd like to check out what we talked about, check out Rachel's video here.
- REMINDER FOR PATRONS $50+/MONTH: This month's Discord Chat will be happening on Thursday the 16th and both at 8pm EST. Let me know if you're not available for either so I'll organize a quick chat.
So that was my whole week, which turned out to go better than I thought. I've had some rough patches lately, but now I see that things have been going well, and I'm planning on keeping it that way. Now the only major thing to do left is to prepare myself to the Oscars tomorrow and take note of what I'll be watching for the next episode of the podcast. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
