I know I've been all hyped up about getting myself back to work after recovering from my surgery, but I was at the point this week that I realized that I needed to calm myself down. I was able to finish off another major project, but I may have forgotten to take it easy and give myself a break after tirelessly working these past few weeks. I did give myself a bit of a day off to avoid a burnout, but I learned that I have my limits and that, even if my next videos to make are smaller, I'll have to take it easy with them. With that said, here's what else's been going on this week.
- Released my review of The Pebble and the Penguin: This was definitely a curious case of an animated film, the kind where it is such a mixed bag that I can find so much to talk about in this that's good and bad. This is certainly not among Don Bluth's best films, but I wouldn't call this bad either. I'd even take this over Titan A.E. or Rock-A-Doodle. On one hand, it is a pretty generic and kind of sloppily-made kids' flick with weird lyrics to the songs. Then again, you got a Tim Curry villain, animation that, while unpolished, is solid, and the songs still give it their all to have it feel like a spectacle. Honestly, I"m in no rush to want to revisit this picture, but there are a few songs that I'm willing to revisit just to indulge on its Broadway-like cheesiness. So, with that finished, the next review will be an interesting, but highly requested one with Steven Universe: The Movie. As someone who has never seen a Steven Universe episode and the most I've gotten into with it was the segment for Animation Lookback: Cartoon Network, I'll do what I can to make a review that even the fans will accept and be worthy as a piece to discuss the movie.
- Finished working on Animation Lookback: The Muppets Part 7: One major highlight that I did this week was that I was able to finally complete the next part of Animation Lookback: The Muppets. For the most part, there were only a few bits of editing left I had to do and make the revisions. However, after I was done and moving on to the next project, that was when I realized that I had to pause altogether. I mean, I worked on two big history videos in a row with the Bob Chapek one and this. That's a lot of massive work for only a couple of videos. Not to mention that I had to work around my schedule of this week where I also had to make room for my podcast, do auditions, be with family, and having the Patreon chat with $50/month patrons. There was already a lot on my plate this week without counting the videos that I had to take one day off just to refuel my energy. Like I said, as much as I want to get ahead on making videos, I have to remember that I do have my limits and I gotta make sure I'm all good before my videos are.
- Started working on the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: Believe it or not, while I did put out the new ACR this week, the review for Steven Universe: The Movie is not yet ready. I thought I'd be able to get this one done by the time you're reading this, but I did not have the energy for that after finishing AL: The Muppets and that is why I'll be going at a more steady pace and plan to not rush anything. This is also beneficial for the review so that the wait that some fans have for this review will be worth it and I'll be sure that it comes out as strong as it can be. I don't think that this will take the entirety of next week for me to do, but I'll try to balance my well-being and creating this review.
So that's been my week with so much happening that I had to take a moment and stop. Hopefully, with the break I took and taking it slow with the Steven Universe: The Movie review, it will help me feel more refreshed for next week and that I'll be ready to have my energy back and get more videos prepared soon enough! Although, I will say now that I will not be producing any major videos any time soon after what I just did :P So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
