During the week of Valentine's Day, while I was taking care of some errands outside of videos and for Patreon, I decided this was a week to plan out something. I knew one video would probably give me some copyright trouble, which is why I decided to take a review I recently finished and make this a double-video week. In case the worst case scenario happens, at least I do have one video already up and not have to worry too much about trying to deal with a potential copyright strike. That and there's always Patreon that it can be available. Anyways, all this to say that I feel good that I've planned out my week well, which I'll show you what I've done.

- Released my review of Gungrave: This admittedly turned out to be more interesting than I thought. Not just the anime itself, but also what I have to analyze. At first, I didn't think a whole lot about it because it looked a bit like a generic action-packed anime. But then when it got more serious and focused a lot on the backstory afterwards, it got be very hooked. The blend of GoodFellas and John Wick turned out to make a wonderful character-driven story that really grabbed my attention to see both Harry and Brandon rise to the top of Millennion's mafia organization. However, when the sci-fi elements try to come in, that's when it loses me because they feel out of place compared to what was established before and it goes back to that same "Destroy all monsters" type series with more guns and a Shadow the Hedgehog-clone. It would've helped if they consistently blend the mafia drama and the sci-fi stuff throughout, but as is, it's an anime where some parts are great, an some are just meh.

- Released the AniMat Watches of Five Nights at Freddy's (2023): I knew I had to do an AniMat Watches of this after doing Willy's Wonderland and The Banana Splits Movie. However, I also knew that this could get me into some copyright trouble because this is a Universal movie. I took the risk of of uploading the video last week and dispute the claim immediately so that, if the best case happens, the claim would be dropped and it would be up on time on YouTube with no trouble. Worst case, well, I'll take care of the strike and I'll say the video of this week I put up was the Gungrave review. Anyways, back onto the movie, as someone who's not really into the franchise, but has a decent amount of knowledge of it from back when the first few games came out, I get why fans love this because it was created especially for them...but this movie honestly sucks and it deserves to be called one of the worst of 2023. Even with its PG-13 rating, it feels like this is a kids movie and geared towards the same target demographic as something like Hotel Transylvania. That and the writing itself is bad. I know many people love him, but Scott Cawthon is not a writer whatsoever and doesn't have the talent to write movies. I'll remember it for many of its dumb moments like the MatPat cameo, the time when they built a fort or that terrible plot twist, but I won't remember this being a good movie. I'm on the critics' side on that one.

- Created the next AniMat's Classic Reviews: This was the project that I was working on last weekend and a bit during the start of this week. Some of my recent reviews have been big ones, but this one however, was a bit easier to make. It still has a decent size for what it is, but it won't be as big as the upcoming Shark Tale review. While this was in production, it was during the time when I had several things to take care of during the week such as my podcast on Monday, but even I was surprised to find that I was able to get some good focus to get the work on this done and even finished it soon than even I expected. The only thing I have to do now is wait and see what the reaction may be. Again, there is a chance that this could be a hot take that I'll be delivering on this one. What is it? Well, you'll find out when I'll reveal it next week!

- Working on the next Special Review: Once I had my errands out of the way, That's when I got into the last of the big Patreon projects I current have to take care of. Similar to the Gungrave review, this one will have me looking into something I haven't done in a while: a live-action movie. The catch though is that this is not really a popular feature and there's not a whole lot that was written about it. And yet, I will say that this is very interesting and I feel like, with what's currently happening in the entertainment industry, this feels pretty relevant and deserves to have a spotlight on it to bring back this discussion. And to help elevate that topic, I will not be doing a vlog-style review for this one. I'm going back to my regular scripted review style (for live-action features) and to give this movie the justice it deserves and maybe show to people that this could deserve a second chance. By the time you're reading this, I'm in the middle of editing the video, but I'll be sure to have this set for next month and show you how wild this can be.

And that's been my week of working on reviews and setting out a plan for this week's videos. While I'll be finishing up what needs to be done on my current project, I got a feeling that next week will be the start of something big. Pretty soon, I know I'll be working on something that I am very excited for to get into and have been waiting for so long to bring to life. However, I'll need to take care of what I have in front of me first. So, until next time...

See ya later, dudes!

A special review? Great! It’s been a long time since you’ve done those since the last one you did was on the Avengers for its 10th anniversary, but I’m definitely excited to see what you’ll be reviewing.
