A Christmas Gift! Date Ariane 2 Final "Alpha" released (Patreon)
Content
I did it, I finished all the picture updates for the entire game.
This is Date Ariane 2 version 0.90 "The Final Alpha" Primarily consisting all the new updated pictures. I've been testing scenes as I went through updating each scene, but I know there will be bugs, and there is stuff I want to test, and make sure all achievements are reachable.
But that's a January problem. So here is the final new picture alpha, be aware there might be bugs. In fact tell me if you find any.
To download go to https://arianeb.itch.io/date-ariane-2/patreon-access If this link doesn't work, and you already have an earlier alpha, leave off the patreon-access part.
If the link gives you an error, message me through Patreon direct chat and I can send you a one time direct copy.
I'll discuss plans for new DLC stuff in a future post, but here is what I need to get working before I call it Beta:
Besides new pictures, the game has many changes to the game play. For example, most of the "dead" endings are not dead anymore. Instead you go back to Ariane's house and do something else. While I implemented this earlier in the year, I haven't tested what happens when you do this. Mostly I want to make sure you can't repeat the same thing over and over.
Another change is the replacement of the walk-through paths with emoticon helps and "anxiety mode" helps, both of which can be disabled in preferences, but which are on by default. I want to see if these explain the rules of the game in a helpful way so you can turn them off eventually.
A side goal for me is for Date Ariane to substitute as an "AI girlfriend", but without the AI part. In a future DLC there will be a "second date" where Ariane will be "nice to see you again" and will remember what you did on the last date. I may want to make sure to add that "last date" code in now.
On that note, while I find AI girlfriends to be a bit creepy, one thing they do well is offer more compliments and assurement statements. I'm looking to do that on this version. I just need to go over the script and see where I can add them.
Also I need at least one new trailer. One which will be similar to the old trailer but with new graphics. Another one will be a before and after trailer.
Plus a new demo, too.
All of that coming soon, in the mean time I'm taking personal time for the rest of the year.
