The listener has lived a fairly quiet, isolated life, when one of his new coworkers (the speaker) suddenly asks him out. The listener accepts, but this is a rare opportunity in his mind, and he's worried about not being able to live up to the speaker's expectations. They plan a date at a local burger joint they think looks appealing, and the script starts with the listener having waited near the joint for a while, fairly cold by this point because of the weather.
