Soooo if you have lightstick you also need a fandom name ..just saying 🤭🤭

Mary_

When you asked how other BTS albums compare to this one and a lot of the comments said top 3 or top 5, you guys were shook that it was not like top 1 or 2. So after watching the stream, I looked at all their albums to see where this new one would fit and the new album is my 7th favourite BTS album 😅😭 Also, whilst I was looking through their previous albums I would say their album Young Forever is their best album. Hit after hit. Peak after peak. I forgot how top tier that album is. If there was a music ranking, the Young Forever album would be S tier. So, what I’m saying is, you guys should totally react to the Young Forever album 😅💜💜 Also, if you guys did react to this album, BTS would have 6 music videos for you guys to react to I loved this stream. It was so good. Thank you guys for the reaction and I am glad you guys liked it, can’t wait for you guys to discover more of BTS and their peak music 😊💜💜

To add to my previous comment below, one of my (sort of) issue with the new songs were that some of them did not feel whole. One part of the song felt different to the other. For example, when McKay said that he really liked the first half of Body to Body compared to the other half, I agree. Whereas with their previous songs, it never felt like that. For example, just listen to the Young Forever album and you’ll see what I mean. It’s more whole and complete sounding. I know it would probably be difficult to do another album reaction but a Young Forever album reaction would be amazing 💜💜

Swapna

Wait till you hear Suga's rap, you'll not forget his name after that :-) A good reaction for your first time.

sofi ✿

this album was really different from what i was expecting, but i guess i should’ve expected that too, because bts usually end up doing something i don’t see coming. i really liked it, and you can definitely feel how their solo era influenced the sound. it’s hard to compare it to their other albums, though, because they’re so versatile that it almost feels impossible to measure it against some of their older work. in the end, i think it really comes down to personal taste!

sofi ✿

oh, and i highly recommend watching the live concert on netflix tomorrow! one of my favorite things about bts is how much energy they bring to their live performances. some artists are just meant to be experienced live, and i definitely think bts are one of them :)

sofi ✿

i’ve been a fan since 2015, and every few years they tend to experiment with something different, which i honestly love because it feels like it follows their journey into maturity. but what’s especially cool to me is that you can still hear traces of their older work in this album. i feel like a lot of songs from dark & wild (2014) and skool luv affair (2014) would fit surprisingly well here. sure, the production is more modern now, and their voices have changed a lot since they were teenagers back then, but the similarities are definitely there. i also think one of the main things about bts is that they’ve never been a group you can tie to just one genre. with seven members, they naturally bring in a lot of different influences depending on what suits each person best. during their solo era, rm leaned into more experimental/alternative rap, jungkook and jimin into pop, suga into hip hop, j-hope fits everything and did both pop and hip hop, jin into a more rock/coldplay-ish sound, and taehyung into r&b and jazz. it’s honestly so cool how i can hear pieces of each of their individual styles show up in this album

James He

Does anyone know if they will be watching the free concert performance tomorrow?

Mary_

Amazingly put 👏👏 so true

Cannon Andrus

Camera dancing made me wanna dance

ainsley

Veronia

Veronia

Can’t believe this is real Dana🤣🥹

Veronia

LITERALLY CRAZZYYY!! I’m here for the ride🫡

Veronia

So happy yall doing this!🥹

Tivy

Can’t wait for you guys to start this new music journey!

Tivy

So far I would say my favourites are: Like Animals SWIM Merry Go Round they don’t know ‘bout us FYA Body to Body NORMAL Please 2.0 However even the ones I wasn’t initially sure about are growing on me! This album is so fire 🔥

Camille Angelica TV

Geks and Chat - please share your fave songs as you do your second (or more) listen!!! Today, body to body has been on repeat for me.

Camille Angelica TV

We'll see if it changes tmrw hahaha I love so many songs in the album and it gets better the more I listen

sofi ✿

that’s such a hard question because i genuinely can’t lock in a top 5 😭 it changes every time i listen to the album. right now i’m most obsessed with hooligans, fya, like animals, and normal… but ask me again in an hour and it’ll probably be different

sofi ✿

100% agree with this! the only one i genuinely wasn’t sure about was into the sun, but i like the melody so much, it’s just the distortion that takes me out of it... i think if i hear it live, i’ll really like it!

Tivy

I agree! If the distortion was less exaggerated I think it would make my top 3 but it’s throwing me off a little too much lol

Veronia

SPEAKING of faker: fun fact- bts have a filmed episode with him and his team where they play a bunch of different video games against each other, and it’s hilarious🤣

VictoriaKyuu

I’m so EXCITED for more!!!!

sofi ✿

oh, and i forgot to mention something about body to body! mckay, i know you didn’t like the second half of the song, but it’s actually one of my favorite parts. they sample arirang at the end, which is a traditional korean folk song that symbolizes resilience and unity, and also longing and collective identity. it felt really intentional to include it there, because in a way, this album feels like bts’ own arirang. a lot of people expected something more traditionally “korean,” but i think what they created instead is an anthem of their own resilience and growth over the years. people often try to box them into the “k-pop” label (which is more about industry than genre) but this album kind of pushes against that. it feels like they’re reclaiming what it means to be “korean” in music by not conforming to expectations, just choosing to tell their own story with music that can represent a piece of each member's identity. i also though the sample really fit the beat, but then again, this is a taste thing lol

Chi T.

I became a BTS fan back in 2014, right before they started hitting their stride. Their music back then was the best, especially the 2015-2019 period, and I think old fans miss those times a lot. The storytelling, production and choreographies were all top tiered and brought about huge changes in the K-pop industry. Their music now is arguably more catered to the western market with a more generic pop sound and less complex messaging, which sadly made me a retired fan as I no longer listen to their newer music as much :') I went from saving their full albums to having only 1-2 of their songs on my playlist rotation in recent years... I'm very eager for the Geks to give their older works a chance, especially the HYYH trilogy albums.

Anya

Forgot about the new patreon lol so hyped for more kpop content and for yall to get into more groups. I'm glad yall will be doing polls. It would be nice to have a schedule as well.

McKay Carter

Very cool, makes the song better!

Anya

30:34 the camera during FYA reaction 😂😂

Anya

Honestly too many bangers to choose a favorite but 'merry go round' and 'like animals' have been on repeat for me. I'm soo happy yall enjoyed the Arirang album and I definitely recommend listening to their older albums. I just know yall will love them even more. 💜

Tivy

That was so funny I can’t 😭

Anya

😂 loved it such a vibe! Tivy! It's almost time for the comeback live! Are you gonna be watching it live? I just hope Netflix doesn't crash lol

Camille Angelica TV

Im watching the live concert right now and i really hope it's available on demand later. The geks gotta watch ittttt!!! (Or maybe theyre reacting rn?!)

VictoriaKyuu

Just coming on here to say the live concert was amazing!! I’m already sad it’s over

Camille Angelica TV

Sameeee but also made me so excited for the actual concerts!

Tivy

Nooo I missed it :( Is there anywhere I can still watch it? Is it Netflix or am I getting it mixed up with the documentary?

Camille Angelica TV

Both the concert (earlier) and the documentary (next week) is on netflix! Hopefully it will be available on demand 🤞

Tivy

I just watched it and omg!

Tivy

Others have mentioned this, but Geks I insist you watch the new BTS concert on Netflix! It’s only an hour, they perform most of the new album plus a few songs you already know. There’s also one song at the end you haven’t heard yet, but it’s such a nostalgic track and live is the best way to hear it for the first time anyways. I don’t know how they always make everything sound better live, but it really shows their talent. The performances and dancing are insane, they haven’t missed a beat even after military service. RM is injured so he wasn’t dancing, but he still performed. It was so good!

Tivy

I watched it and it was SO GOODDD! I did watch it late however so luckily my Netflix didn’t crash haha. The Geks need to react to it!

léna

Hello guys ! First of all, I’m so happy that you decided to start this Patreon. Thank you so much. I’ve been following you on Studio Gek ever since you started AOT, and now you’re entering another world that I deeply love, which is BTS. I’m not really a fan of K-Pop in general, mostly BTS, but I still subscribed to your patreon bc I’ve been wanting to see you start a K-Pop journey for a long time now! I think that It’s best if you start by only focusing on BTS, or BTS and Backpink at first, bc you started with them. If you immediatly start to listen to multiple groups at the same time, you will get lost and overstimulated I think. This is only what I want, but ofc if you listen to multiple groups, I will still watch it :) I wish you could react to their live concert on Netflix, they performed those songs as well as some others that you know, like Dynamite and Butter, and it’s not very long, only 1h

Anya

Geks, please watch the BTS comeback live!! It's roughly been three and a half years since their last concert! No need to poll, join the hype! 💜

Tivy

It’s a must!

Anya

The Aura was insane 🔥

Lamya

Yes it's sooo goood they gonna love it

VictoriaKyuu

I genuinely am beyond SUPER excited and happy you guys are starting this Journey!! BTS are my faves although I do listen to a lot more k-pop groups. I discovered them in 2018 when they released 'Fake Love'. That song and the album had a big impact on me as it was an album with lots of deep messages that really hit hard emotionally (definitely my favorite album). I can't even describe how I immediately fell in love with the group, their music, their rap, vocals, dance, visual, and story. Although a little before their military enlistment, I was starting the adult life, got busier and less motivated so I kinda stopped keeping up with BTS; I Still listened to their new music/members solo music but it was just different. Now that their back I had that same excited feeling I haven't felt in a while and absolutely LOVEED this album!!! Not only that, that small feeling i've been missing like the first time I discovered them; I started feeling it once again seeing you guys discover them!!! SOOOOOOO I CANNOT WAIT!!!! I hope all the geks have a great time discovering BTS AND more K-pop groups! Maybe you guys will find your ult group?? PLEASE WATCH THE COMEBACK LIVE!!!!

S Moonchild⁷

Can someone explain how to join the discord?

S Moonchild⁷

My favorites from this album are: they don’t know about us, like animals, normal, swim and body to body

Tivy

tasteeee

Tivy

The live concert of the album on Netflix honestly made the songs sound even better, I hope you guys watch it! It’s their first concert since hiatus. BTS performance quality is a huge part of why they’re so highly acclaimed.

Nora Chen

PLS REACT TO BTS’S NETFLIX CONCERT 😭🔥

Jack

PEAK ALBUM. let us know what we should do next!

mina

i would love for them to listen to it again but with lyrics this time. bts has always been all about the lyrics🥹

Veronia

Netflix live🫡 if yall are able to of course!💜

mina

that's just not true, but okay

Veronia

Oooo yessss!!

Tivy

In terms of BTS: I would watch the BTS Netflix live concert from the other day (first concert since hiatus, and they sing most of the album + songs you know) to see their performance quality, and then maybe react to some of their solo work to get to know the members and their voices/style! We can help you out on what songs and stuff with the polls. Then I would listen to their group work ofc :)

mina

so a little background about the gong in no. 29. it's the sound of the sacred bell of the great King SeongDeok. this is south korea's national treasure number 29, hence the title. the bell also hasn’t been rung in about 22 years because it’s so old, country wants to prioritize preserving it. the last time they rung it, cultural leaders were invited, rm included (but he couldn’t make it). still, by recording its sound and including it in the album, they’ve made sure that future generations will be able to hear it forever. spotify is a bit trash, you can hear it a lot better on apple music!!!

Tivy

A lot of people are recommending you watch a BTS guide, which is pretty common for reactors. Just a heads up though—the one everyone suggests is good, but it’s fan-made and has quite a bit of reading. I know you guys don’t usually pause during reactions, but you might have to stop a few times to follow along. Personally I’d recommend getting into their music a bit first before watching a guide, but that’s just my take!

mina

btw carter's j-dog killed me😭😭😭😭😭

VictoriaKyuu

I recently just watched the boracity guide and personally enjoyed that one a bit more than the one everyone recommends. Although the longer one goes into a lot more details about the members I think the boracity one could be a good start? Although I do agree with just starting out with their music, Fake love Black swan Blood, Sweat, &tears!! So many more

JAN NARUTO

OMG GEKS YOU ARE SO GOATED FOR THIS DROP THANK YOU LETSGOO💜

Tivy

I haven’t seen the Boracity one! I have been hearing more about it lately though 👀 And those songs are all bangersss

VictoriaKyuu

Go watch it!!! Again not as detailed since it's shorter but I think they do a pretty great job on explaining bts as a group and their achievements as well as going into the members and their styles and talents!

Anya

Jaaaaccckk we need the comeback live on netflix before anything pleeeeaaseeee

Tivy

This isn’t my comment, it’s a post I’ve seen going around about ARIRANG (specifically Aliens) and I found it really interesting, so I wanted to share it here: Their song Aliens talks about racism "do I look too funny?" and demand respect of them and their culture "If you wanna hit my house, shoes off at the door." (Referring to the Asian tradition of not wearing shoes in house.) They say, "the nerve on you, shameless. Show some respect. Pardon me, Kim Gu seonsaengnim, tell me how you feel." That name was a Korean activist who was a key figure in SK's independence movement from Japan. Saying his name invokes his legacy of anti-colonial resistance. BTS are saying they won't be "colonized" by those people who disrespect them because they're "different". The lyrics say "I'm the only one who can speak English, but that is how we kill." They're saying they don't need to learn your language to succeed. They did it on their terms. "Yeah we living that aliens. We land on it. We stand on it. We stamp on it." They're proud of their Korean roots. They land on and stamp on and stand up loud and proud. Anyway I said all this because what else could be more Korean? It's more Korean than their albums with 90% Korean lyrics.

Tivy

That would be so perfect for them to watch. I’m going to check it out rn!

Veronia

As per usual, bts being lyrical geniuses 🙏

Tivy

Made the live even more fun lol

Emrataaa

SO FREAKING HYPE FOR MORE BTS CONTENT OMGGGG🙂‍↕️

Noha⁷

it's just a lie. if you're going to say you're not a fan anymore that's fine but don't use some bs reason to make you feel better

mina

TUNING IN NOW

Chi T.

I apologize if I have offended anyone. Perhaps I’m like a boomer harping about how things used to be different in the “good old days”. I’d like to clarify that these are indeed just my own opinions, and perhaps you are right, I could be saying this to make myself feel better as I lost touch with their music as a long time fan over the years. I just want to add on that I’m a classical musician, and I do my best to not voice frivolous opinions about music, especially for BTS who was the only group I ever followed ardently in my younger days. Would love to hear your counter thoughts on their music direction in recent years :) Above all, I think it’ll be great for all BTS fans if the Geks decide to expand their listening repertoire nonetheless. Thank you for reading!

Jaydashed

I'm late to the party, but the overall consensus among the naysayers is this: the album was implied to be culturally significant and very Korean, however, the album is quite western. For instance, the majority of the album is primarily written by Ryan Tedder and all the tracks have western producers and mixers. The naysayers are frustrated with the westernization of an album that was implied to be very Korean... Still a good album though 🤷‍♂️

PhuNara ApoBangpo⁷

They all had a hand in writing on the album except for Jin. As they always do. On top of that they said theyre going back to their roots which yes is Korean and also hip hop which people seem to forget for some reason when ALMOST EVERYONE wants to complain about missing "the old BTS" and now that theyre doing what they do people wanna keep complaining. Basically people always wanna be miserable. This album is amazing. A korean reactor said the most Korean song on the album is 'Aliens' cause they use a Korean instrument and mention things and/or people that are Korean. This album is 100/10 for me.

E L

listening to this again, i think youve mistaken jungkook's vocals for v
