Whats crazy to me about the bias thing is that V has always had such an incredible impact on people even though he pretty consistently from the beginning has had the smallest part.. him and Jin but Jin being the 'visual' had much bigger parts in the videos.. but yeah Ive always found it interesting how V draws people in when you kind of have the least time with him... this albulm is different though - Arirang has the most equal line distribution out of any of their albulms so far.

guys! love how excited you got! 💜 nyt says there is a spread of measles in utah, please be careful, take all the precautions! ✨ you HAVE to do actual concerts, they go nuts, yes more so than this, and it’s insane how stable their voices are doing these outrageously amazing performances. the beginning with RM, the song is his solo song within the group album, so in earlier albums they had solo song per member, rapline unit song, vocal line unit song and a couple of group songs. from this setlist the only song you have heard before was mikrokosmos.

Oooh I Love love love BTS more than any other artist and I agree they are at the very top with the greatest to ever do it. I have seen Beyonce 4 times though and she might be the only person (for me) that does actually match this energy. Like BTS, she dances and sings live for 3 hours and it is truly incredible! I saw Bruno last weekend and his vocals were incredible but in my opinion he didn’t come close to matching the energy of BTS, same opinion from when I saw Ariana. I’m not taking anything away from BTS (I agree this is the best award show performance I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to see them this summer) but let’s give others their flowers too. 😉💜

So refreshing to get a reminder that, no, nobody else is doing it like BTS. Yes, there are amazing artists live obviously but the range and energy control is rare as hell. And you were asking if Suga ever performed with so much energy? Hopefully you guys eventually see his solo tour live for d-day, his last solo album. He headbanged, we cried, he played piano with a whiskey-med combo because he got sick at one point but sounded insane. Knowing how the US "accepted" Bad Bunny's Spanish performance, even though he is American proves that the US audience is too racist and hateful towards foreign languages and I am sure will be against Non-American Non-English artist. As a fan, I wouldn't want boys to perform on Superbowl and get all that hate. Sorry, but the US hasn't deserved that yet. We saw how Grammys and other awards/interviewers treat them. Melon Music Awards - kinda like if Billboard hosted Grammies, it is every year in November for Kpop artists mostly (sometimes side awards for asian or western artists). BTS got their first biggest award on MMA 2016 and I believe it changed their life trajectory, they after went on to win MAMA ceremony as well. After 2016 they won big award every year, in 2019 they swept all 4 major categories. Usually kpop artists perform for 3-15 minutes, BTS are the only artist to get 40 minutes. They did get breaks in-between, not shown to us on screen. They were already big in 2019 in Korea. Boys you saw are from group TXT. Their Dionysis performance intro are introduction of Greek Gods (V = god of arts Apollo, Jin = God of war with Trojan horse Ares, Jimin = probably Artemis or Hermes, Suga = Hades, JK = Poseidon, Jhope = Zeus God of lightning, Namjoon = Dionysus) Namjoon as a Dionysus, God of parties/alcohol and fun invited all Gods to his party. Song is about how you get drunk on art and give your masterpiece to the world. Chorus says something along the lines of "Drink, drink, raise your glass or two, let's get drunk on art". I watched it online in real time, I was losing it. 2020 was Covid, 2021 they were quarantined and then 2022 military started. In 2025 they didn't participate as they were just back with no new releases. But they scaled their performance from 2016 to 2019.

As for the concert lore: MMA is a Korean award show so I think the reason why people were saying this is not a ‘concert’ is because other artists are also present, yet the way the whole audience is tuned in and made up of a majority of ARMYs is so impressive (as expected of BTS, they always seem to be able to reach people with their music and craft). Practically, award shows are also distinct because there’s more room for ‘spectacle’ and unusually wild set ups compared to regular concerts (the reason is because these are so energy intensive that they’re more like a one-off thing to make a grandiose finale to the end of the year as an artist, which would physically be unsustainable for concerts on a tour where you need more time to breathe and would instead prepare more realistically doable performances long-term). For the next upload, I’m really curious to see what you choose to go with next :D. I had a few ideas if of interest: the first would be (indeed) watching BTS’ latest concert from their 2026 world tour (or even an older one like PTD live) would be a really interesting watch, just to get a taste of what their concerts are like. I HIGHLY recommend finding concerts with ENG lyrics in the video, there are many around and it makes the concerts much more fulfilling to follow as you get a better sense of the ‘narrative’/messages they convey through the concert and songs (ARMYs can provide links if it makes it any easier). If not a concert, I think a fun idea would be to binge 10 to 15 of their main title tracks. Why? It’s not too time-consuming yet you basically get to see a snippet of all of their eras, to get a better idea of bts’ musical journey as a group (if you like this idea, you could do the same for all of bts’ solo title tracks, where you do 1 video where you watch 2 videos of each member all at once). Not sure if you’re up for it, but I think these options would make a unique but well-rounded watch if you want to see more, but also get to cover more content at a nice pace ^^.

This specific performance was historical, i still remember how it went viral on yt, i mean it took them 3 months of preparations after all, everyone worked so hard, especially the staff! Also when BTS got out of stage, I remember one of the staff working there mentioning how they immediately rushed them with medical help to improve their breathing, they were all so moved from how much effort they put in their performances from start to finish. Also this performance held a loooot of meanings to us at the time, BTS combined their old songs with their newest ones at the time, using a lot of symbolism from their storyline (BTS universe) to portray their individual performances. They remixed some of their songs you heard in their solos performances like "save me, I need u, fire, fake love etc.." Also mikrokosmos was filmed beforehand to give time to change and prepare for the next performances, same goes with the scene with horses (cz horses can get affected by loud noises) they just aired that scene with horses (filmed before) the rest was all live. I would also like to point out that in the original Dionysus song there wasn't any breakdown dance with the table, they made it specifically for this award show (there's a dance practice for it as well) it was a surprise performance to us tbh Thank you for this reaction, can't wait for real concert reaction too 💜

16:49 to answer jack's question. that years performance was a little special. they didn't do only the songs from the album, but also included some old songs as well. mikrokosmos, dionysos and boy with luv were the songs from the album and boy in love is from 2014, solo performances are remixes of older songs over the years and the dance break at the end in the middle of dionysos was a remix of the song called N.O from 2014.

I fully support McKay continuing to say the quiet part out loud buahahaha. Honestly there's such a difference between other ppls favorites and BTS it's insane. Some can dance and sing but have no real charisma. Some can sing amazingly but wont give it their 100% when dancing which BTS has always tried to give in everything they do. They ALL have subtle details that make them individually shine and their emotions do not feel forced at all on or off the stage. They sing while running on treadmills. I'm pretty sure they've talked about wearing oxygen deprivation masks while running also. And they have oxygen on standby in between performances. There are multiple videos of Jimin and JK especially staggering and near collapsing backstage, reaching for oxygen. When they perform they literally have a sports-conditioning team on stand by. Between performances as soon as they get off, the pit crew moves in with oxygen, cold water, physical therapy, cold packs and fans. You heard on the Documentary Jin talking about getting multiple IV treatments on his solo tour. I think they are wanting to move away from pushing themselves that hard. It can be uncomfortable to watch them struggle and they no longer have anything to prove. I am LOVING BTS 2.0 where they get to still show powerful performances, but it's mixed in with light-hearted nostalgic choreo and songs, and chill songs, and vibe/festival style performances. People who don't like change will whine but who cares. As long as BTS is happy, anything that will keep them going for as long as possible.

BTS aren't the only group that started with a low budget, SEVENTEEN for example. And of course, all of BTS's performances are amazing, but it's nothing that can't be compared to others. Literally, NCT has the nickname "god of performance" and no, it's not called that by fans, it's by the industry itself. I don't think it's that the other groups don't look good. I just think BTS is so much better. They have the choreo, vocals, rapping, charisma and presence and actually have amazing music whereas some of the other groups tends to have some but not all of that or just doesn't have it to BTS's level. For example (and please don't take offense), I don't think stray kids songs are that good so even if the actual performance is good, the songs aren't good so as a whole, it doesn't really compare. As others have said it's not necessary to choose a bias. You might have one based on whose voice you like the best, music style, and mainly whose personality you resonate with. And sometimes people have different member preferences for each category. So there is no need to have a bias and for a lot of people it keeps changing. 💜

Thank you for your reactions! I understand why its best to start with MMA 2019 and why it is overwhelming😆!! So, I’m going to drop a very lengthy comment about some facts (kinda) about this show! Starting with: - This is actually a live performance for an award show in K-Pop industry. There are MANY shows in a year and it has been going on for decades. (there are actual award shows season hahah) - Fans from different groups joins in one stadium or place (like you can see where they perform) and cheers for their idols with the lightstick of that specific groups. - So, this performance is MMA (Melon Music Awards) where it’s known to be a “nice” show/place for BTS to perform. If you do some research, BTS always joins the award shows since they usually have 2 comebacks a year. These awards shows is a chance for Idols to perform their songs (titles, b-sides, covers..) and shine as a group and performers. - In fact, these award shows is actually a chance for idols from different groups to connect and interact where some of them will have a collaboration stages. (example: idols who are known to be good at instrument or dancing, may have a band or dance collaboration stage) - If you scan throughly, you may see the small platform in the crowd where idols were seated. So, those people are from different groups and they are enjoying BTS performance live just like fans in the crowd. This goes the same to other groups, BTS also sit down and enjoy other groups performance. It’s like taking turns LOL!! - Fun fact: The 2 guys in the clip mid-performance that you saw a close-up of, is actually 2 out of 5 members from a group called “TXT” and they are actually the second group under the same label as BTS (Bighit). They all are very close!

Coming back to the performance! - BTS is always known for their insane stage during award shows. As a fan for a very long time, BTS used to only perform 1 song with no VCR or remixes… because (i guess) they were not popular enough. - However, their hard work paid off and we’ve all come a long way. Now, everyone is always tuned in, to see BTS year-end or award show performances because it is just top tier as always. - Let’s talk about the stages. Since these award show always has different styles, it may lead you to think how possible it is for them to do all of these in a short span of time?! So actually, some stages are pre-recorded. - As you can see the background is always moving and they are everywhere on stage…some stages are actually pre-record due to the time limit or just basically their overall layout of the whole performance, it is completely normal. - However, here’s another fact: BTS is mostly seen to still perform on the stage for ARMYs even when the pre-recorded stage is playing for the audiences even though we can barely see them in the dark stage. (example: JK water dance is pre-recorded but he still came out on the stage and perform with no water!) - anddddd THE HORSES! 🐎: It is obviously a pre-recorded one too, for safety reasons! They can’t possibly bring out horses in real time where there were thousands of people, so they pre-recorded it and continue the Dionysus performances live. - Mikrokosmos is also pre-recorded, as you can see with the changed clothes and insane stage designs. - Another fact: BTS always has VCR to deliver their messages and sometimes spoilers for their next comeback (both during big award shows and their concerts) and they usually take this time to change their wardrobe and rest for a few minutes before coming back on stage live. - This MMA stage was actually soooooooo top tier because for the part where each members were dancing and the dionysus dance break, they actually bring back and remixing their earlier songs which was very cool and nostalgic for ARMYs. But I don’t blame you guys for not knowing! You’ll get there eventually! I just want to let you know how iconic it was to hear their earlier songs when they are at the peak of their career because most of us grew up with them. - And to answer Connor’s questions if they ever topped this performance…As a longtime army, i’d say yes because each of their performance is great and their concerts are just so fun and iconic all the time so I’m excited to see you guys enjoying their long concerts too. idk if i missed anything but if i made some mistakes, pls let me know and i hope this lengthy comment helps!

Exactly. Sometimes it can be overwhelming so I think their recent format is much more balanced and really lets you get to enjoy THEM. I feel like there's a reason why sometimes people actually look forward to their encores when they're in their casuals as much as the performances. They post plenty of performance and dance practice videos if we want to see that, but ARMY go to their concerts not just to see a show, but to experience THEM as artists and people. I would pay to watch them sit in chairs and chat, and get up once in a while to do a lil song and dance, and go right back to sitting and chatting. And people that won't pay for that...good, maybe the ARMY that have been pushed out of a chance to see them in person for years will actually have a chance.

They were remixes or instrumentals. in regards to biases it’s ok to not have one yet lol or to have multiple and for it to change. i feel like ppl also often originally have one bias bc they caught your eye but sometimes it changes later down the line. i became a bts fan in 2016 and yoongi (suga) stood out to me first then not long later i fell in love with hobi and he was my bias for years. weirdly enough around 2020? 2021? jungkook snuck up on me and joined hobi lol

Billboard even did a poll asking who people want to see at the next Super Bowl halftime show, and BTS was way ahead. And a few days ago, in an interview BTS did with Rolling Stone, they were asked about the possibility of performing at next year’s Super Bowl. The members said they’d be open to it if they got invited. RM also said, “Maybe if time goes by, and the way people think changes… everyone around the world is watching Parasite and all these amazing parts of Korean culture, so if there’s a chance, we’d definitely want to do it someday.”

The previous year is SO good and my fave. MMA is an award show and BTS stopped going to all Korean award shows after 2019. The last performance they did was in 2020 but it was during COVID so it's a smaller scale and virtual but really good! Jhope did go to MAMA and MMA for his promotions while everyone else was in the military to pick up awards for BTS as well as for himself, but other than that, BTS only accepts awards virtually.

So this is technically a concert, but it is primarily a music award show. Other KPOP groups perform in it (none as long as BTS did here), and after this performance of BTS I feel like the other groups really improved their performances to be more and more extravagant. The 2020 one is also GREAT, I cannot recall if it is MMA or MAMA but you get to see more of Jimin's contemporary dance;)

Hope you’ll cover MMA 2018 too 😆 Also some context on whether or not this is a concert: Melon Music Award (MMA) is one of the major end-of-year award shows for the K-pop industry, kinda similar to Grammys etc. in the Western world. These award shows tend to feature really elaborate medley performances from standout K-pop artists of the year. BTS is of course given the finale set (longest) in the past few years, across all award shows around 2015 and beyond. Hence, the audience is a mix of fans of different artists, while the set production is funded by both the award sponsor and the label behind the artist. Music-wise, you are likely to hear a remixed version of the songs as they are re-arranged to provide more choreography/performance highlights. In a single award season, you might see BTS put up 3-4 such elaborate performances with different remixes across different award shows. I’m a casual fan of a lot of K-pop artists/groups so award shows are like buffet to me LOL

I appreciate McKay and Carter pointing out how hard it must be for Jimin to sing some of his parts, because that’s been one of the biggest conversations around his voice for years now. Jimin was always known as one of BTS’s main vocalists alongside Jungkook, and a lot of their older songs were clearly built around that more youthful tone he had at the time. But as he got older his voice naturally changed and he settled into a softer, breathier style that suits him really well now. So when they go back and perform older songs (especially something like ‘Boy in Luv’) he’s not only singing in a range that doesn’t fully match his current tone anymore, but he’s also doing some of the hardest choreography as the main dancer at the same time, which is insane. I feel like for a while people were so focused on pointing out every flaw in his live vocals that they ignored how difficult his parts actually are and how much his voice had naturally evolved, when really it makes complete sense why those songs would be especially hard on him. That’s also why it’s been so nice seeing people praise him again these past few years, because I really do think he’s found his tone and become such a consistently strong live singer again, especially in more recent concerts like YTC in Busan.

korean grammy is more like kma (korean music awards), and bts has also won there. i remember wishing for bts to win because it’s rare for kpop artists to be nominated or win grand prize at kma. I’d say mma’s american equivalent is BBMA and MAMA is AMA. Melon music awards defi has more prestige than MAMA.

I feel like you guys should spend a bit more time understanding Korean/K-pop culture first. The best way to do that would be to focus on one group (maybe BTS), really learn everything around them, and then move on to others. Right now, when questions come up like “why are they wearing masks?” or “what is gochujang?”, it shows there’s still a lot of basic context missing. If you try to explore multiple groups at once, it can get confusing. Taking it one group at a time will make everything much clearer and more enjoyable!

This awards performance cost 350k bighit spared no expense. After bad bunny performed a lot of ppl were requesting bts perform. Unfortunately they will be busy in Australia for their tour. If you see their documentaries you’ll see some of the members struggling to breathe and eve if you watch the behind the scenes of this performance you will see some of the members struggling but they do it because they love to put on a performance.

To a certain extent, I was proud to see that he was doing the half time show. I've always thought Jin had the most stable voice of all of them. Bro has never shaken or faltered once, which is absolutely fine and expected to happen in a live show when dancing as hard as these guys dance, which makes it even all the more impressive. Particularly with him having some of the most belty parts. Everytime he opens his mouth you just know he's going to kill it. My favorite thing about the 360 stage set up is getting to see Jin from the sides and back, as he's usually in the back with cameras only filming from the front, so you just get peek a boos of him unless he's doing his lines. All the guys have only leveled up in this comeback. Which is insane bc of how long they've been out of the game.

I haven't really seen this term (I made it up to myself, but I'm sure I'm not the first), but I have a co-bias, meaning there are 2 members that equally draw my attention, and that's Jimin and JHope. I am a sucker for dancers (cuz I can't dance, I can only groove lol), and their individual expression that they put into their dancing is so impressive to me, along with their individual personalities and their interactions with one another (the roomies!). Additionally J Hope's rap parts in the group songs is always a scene changer. He brings the party and switches the vibe whenever he comes in. And Jimin, well, additionally he's Jimin lol. He's addictively charming and his triality of being sweet and adorable, but elegant and sensual, and powerful and masculine, as it suits him is such an enigma to me. They're all bias-wreckers to those two for me though. For example, over the years , Tae has become my favorite dancer when they do their group choreo. He has such a natural swag that's effortless, and I feel like he captures the essence and vibe of each move perfectly, the way it was meant to be. And his unique voice cannot be replicated by any of the members. There are times when I crave his solo music just for his voice, in a way that no other member can satisfy. RMs voice too when he sings or raps just puts me in a trance and makes me feel safe and warm and protected. It's just substantial and percussive yet soft in a way without being overwhelming (like bass). And yeah, the leader energy is kinda hot ngl. I love how he can be goofy and let loose, but gets down to business when needed. Suga's solo stuff I can consume without getting tired, and his lyrics and topics are heart-pulling an relatable. He always talks about the human experience and you can tell Yoongi has met nearly every type of person in this world, and has recognized himself in them all, and that's why he can so plainly speak about things in a way where so many can relate. Jin's showmanship and comedic timing really carried ARMY and BTS through a time where the futute was unknown. And I hope I don't get flamed but I think Run Jin tops even Run BTS. I never laughed so hard or was so entertained. He is just pure entertainment and I love how he pushes for his ideas always thinking about giving the best experience for ARMY. Like when he pushed for the hugging event when he was discharged. Like when he went up to the barricades at the Goyang concert and shooed security staff away, while also doing crowd control. I think the way Jin ran his tour had a HUGE impact on BTS' current concert format. Jin's solo tour content was like nothing I'd ever seen before. It was like part tour, part variety show. He played games with the audience, but locked in when he performed, and it felt like an entire experience. JK's passion and bravery to break outside of BTS to reach out work with and win the respect of so many other types of artists, is so impressive. It's even more impressive when you realize that he's the youngest and has spent not only all of his adult life with BTS, but part of his childhood as well and yet STILL has the confidence and courage to venture out of the safety bubble. His responsibilities and role in the group is irreplaceable like RM said. The other guys rely on him so much. They seek him for help and advice and he never says no. He has broken is voice doing most of the song guides and even though it would be so easy with his talents and natural abilities, to brush people off, he is still so giving of his talents and expertise. He's a really admirable guy.

Also, bc of his contemporary dance and martial arts background, Jimin is tasked with the most movement during formation changes. He is the one that is most like to have to run, spin, dive, leap across the stage into position....then immediately start singing, ON TOP of the group choreo everyone does. I've seen compilation videos that shows how much more movement Jimin has to do to get into position and how far he has to travel. Then you add that he's a showman and has to go 2000% on each move. Even JHope had to gently remind him (and JK), to chill so they don't get hurt and have to modify or compromise on other shows.

thing is, BTS planned to join the military after 2019, so this was supposed to be the last big performance. But guess what, the pandemic happened, their plan delayed. Award shows were pre-recorded, no audience, no cheers. Then they went to the military for a few years. So no, since then BTS hasn't done an award show performance this big. MAMA 2020 was pretty big though but not at this scale, and it's online so not as hype.

Answering some of your questions: (i hope u see this comment) - To answer Cannon, yes they learn the choreo for the dance break there, they make new choreos specifically for those - Do they come up with the ideas? well the choreographers, the production team, etc all work together to come up with the ideas and ofc the members' ideas are also mainly included. - Carter: How are they so well-rounded? That's what the training period before the debut is for. Every idol has to train like they are in the military, for HOURS every day. Most companies keep their phones, have STRICT rules, can't date.... Some even suffer serious health problems when their company is toxic and make them train like they're not humans at all. (it isn't just bcz of their training ofc, their background and skill are involved too. some ppl can't read between the lines :D) - How do they sing while moving so much? Again they trained for this. Kpop idols run on treadmills and sing, jump and sing, do planks and sing, do intense cardio and sing, to achieve that vocal stability - "I can't see any other kpop group doing this" Believe it or not, kpop is generally like that (BTS is the best armys don't kill me :D). They go above and beyond for award shows and concerts. So some if not all other groups also do those intermissions, acting, story telling, crazy stage production and dance breaks. A popular kpop survival show where you can see that is Kingdom Legendary War. They bring out a giant octopus tentacle, train compartment or car? (idk how to call that), forest props on stage, large ship steering wheels, etc. The difference is in the groups' intensity, passion in performance, skill, theme and their strong suit. For e.g. Seventeen is known for their synchronicity "theatre kids of kpop", Ateez for their power "performance kings", Stray kids as "noise music kings" (positively), NCT for their experimental songs, Exo for their vocals, New Jeans for their y2k vibe...all of them go above and beyond for their performances in their own way. BTS is one of the best in all of kpop when it comes to performance, versatility and ofc being well-rounded. Get ready for a super long rant, because, as always, I was taking notes to answer your questions! Firstly, get well soon Cannon! I couldn't hear most of your comments, unfortunately, because it was like you were in a cave lmao (I'm sorry). Also, Carter was violating my eardrums because I had the video full blast, haha. Loved the enthusiasm, but it felt like the mic was inside his throat. This was not a concert but an award show performance at the Melon Music Awards in Seoul, South Korea, but BTS essentially turned it into their concert. The show was livestreamed worldwide for international fans as well. Most of the crowd were ARMY, and even the other idols that attended were spotted fanboying to the max on fancams posted after the show. BTS have been performing flawlessly in all awards shows, but the 2018-2019 era was definitely the peak because they had more time to do stuff. One other legendary performance that I would recommend is MMA 2018. A lot of the things for the stage, but also for the VCR (prerecorded videos), include references from the Bangtan Universe, which is the fictional story in some of their earlier music videos. Btw, my ethnicity is Greek, so I wanted to dive a bit deeper into their Dionysus performance. The elements they included are a homage to Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology overall. Each member symbolised a Greek God for their individual stages. My interpretations are: J-Hope as Zeus, Jimin as Aphrodite, JK as Poseidon, V as Apollo, Jin as Athena, Suga as Hephaestus, and RM as Dionysus. You were also right about the Trojan horse. Some other details inspired by Greece that I've noticed were the thyrsus and leopards, which are symbols of Dionysus. Also, the columns mimic Greek temples and ancient Greek architecture. Lastly, the dancers and extras were used to represent soldiers from different parts of Greece, wooow just WOW. I could really sit here and expand on each detail for hours, but these were the things that I noticed immediately. The two idols shown in the audience were from the group TXT (Soobin & Yeonjun), who are BTS's first and probably closest juniors. Btw, after that incredible yet taxing performance, BTS had to go back and forth from their seats to the stage because they won all four major grand prizes. (Artist, Album, Song, and Record of the Year.) We were all commenting on how exciting yet tiring the experience must be for them lmaooo. Lastly, I am so happy Jack declared his bias (we have the same bias), and I also wanted to say that it's definitely okay to be OT7 biased, but just because you have a bias, don't think you like the other members less. Also, it's completely normal for a group to have the same bias. Two of my closest friends are Yoongi (SUGA) biased, and the other is Taehyung (V) biased. I am greedy, so I am double-biased (Tae & Yoongi) lmaooo, but it's fun! To answer Jack, Jungkook being the only one invited to the Super bowl wasn't random, it actually ties back to his solo era. When the members were doing their own projects, JK collaborated with Usher on a remix of Standing Next To You, which is a huge song and very performance-driven. That connection, plus how well the song fits that kind of stage, is likely why he was the one invited. The reason why it feels like Jungkook is 'leading' most of the songs is because he's THE MAIN VOCALIST, and J-hope doesn't necessarily make the dance production he's a dance leader so he's in charge with making sure all the members deliver the dance moves and preform them perfectly he's like the final judgement lol so other members often go to him for help in dancing because he's the dance leader

Hey Geks! Kinda late but oh well, amazing vid and love your commentary. I thought I would give a thorough explanation of why its debated on whether it's a concert or just a live performance. I know other comments have kinda explained this already but it was very brief and I saw more recommendations than anything else. This MMA "concert" is actually a award show called the Melon Music Awards held annually in Korea with a main purpose of awarding popular and best selling groups and artists from that year. Multiple groups are invited to attend AND perform at this award show, BTS were not the only group performing that night as many others performed as well. Asian award shows are always very performance based with multiple groups invited to perform and attend, some other similar award shows include AAA, MAMA and the Golden Disc all of these are popular Asian award shows. These are massive events and as such many people get hyped for these events. Also lots of the special effects you guys couldn't figure out were actually only visible on the livestream. Also many groups go above and beyond for these performances and im sure you will find amazing performances like this from other groups as well, it's a whole spectacle. Hope that cleared some stuff up, and good luck!

Also, since everyone already mentioned everything, to add, you can't do stuff at your 30s that you did when you were 25. BTS has gotten older. Jin is 33(not saying they cant pull this off again, i mean look at 2.0's choreo)- but since they have been tirelessly working physically and mentally for 13 years continuously-(without a break, the only one they got was in covid for some months and then the military-where again they werent resting)-its difficult to move your body as much as when you are younger and not well rested.This tour,for eg, is comparatively laid back(BTS' version of laid back is 2.0 and runbts lmao)- but still "comparatively" which i absolutely LOVE. They have performed like this all their lives, people are free to watch these videos if they miss it soo much. Also, NO NO OTHER "KPOP" GROUP COMES CLOSER TO BTS. Its not just production or performance. Its everything mixed. DO other groups have a song as well written and meningfull as "dionysus"? No one can write it other than BTS. Then to perform such choreo with this much energy on such a good song. no other artist in this world can match.People have good written songs, people have good choreos, people have good vocals, epople dance well, some write their raps and they might be meaningfull and good, some may have good stage presence, some may have stable vocalists, but NONE have everything in a single group other than BTS. NONE. Their songs arent just "music"- they have matter. and they have everything else any other artist can have on top of it. i'm sure someone already mentioned this but just in case, MMA is a korean award show that stands for Melon Music Awards. The random clips you saw of people you didn't know were other artists/idols that were there to perform and partake in the award show as well. The two big ones that most people watch are MMA and then MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) and of course there are many others. Most of the time when idols perform on these shows they don't turn out like a concert and it's usually just two to three songs in a medley with maybe a dance break in between. BTS was definitely an exception back then and no other artist or group has been allowed to perform to such lengths like BTS has. I have been an Army since 2016 and a Carat since 2014, being an Ex Army I have listened to almost all of their music and the boys are good no doubt, but naming a bunch of songs isn't going to make them the gods of Kpop and aren't the only group who can write beautiful and meaningful songs. Saying " NO NO OTHER "KPOP" GROUP COMES CLOSER TO BTS" is the kind of stuff that made me an ex Army. I do wish you knew the songs because it's so much more significant knowing that the instrumentals in their solo 'aura farming' dance segments, are all their title tracks through the years. It goes chronologically starting with V and "No More Dream" ( 2013) ,their debut song , Danger (2014), I Need U (2015), Fire (2016), Save Me (2016), Fake Love (2018) and lastly, Dionysus (2019). All the songs are remixed to new beats and the Dionysus dance break is the EDM version of NO (2014).

I remember watching this award show live online and I had chills when they sampled all their older songs. I think 2019 was really them saying "we have always been good". The statement may feel obvious but it took a while for most people to admit it. At MAMA 2019 they performed "NO'" (2014) and "We Are Bulletproof Pt 2.", two songs that originally did not get the recognition they deserved in Korea. They did way better internationally. BTS performing their older songs again at the big KPOP industry award shows really felt like they were owning the sound that they were previously mocked for. (That may be the reason SUGA is so aggressive in his raps..especially when you read the translations). I really hope that when there are songs you don't know you spend some time looking them up and going into the details with the translation. You gain so much insight to their thoughts and how they might be feeling at the time (no need for separate documentaries) because. THE LYRICS HIT DIFFERENT.

“Does Suga still perform like this?” I genuinely believe he performs even better than he did back then. He also had a really bad shoulder injury for 7-9 years until he had surgery in late 2020, so he has mobility now too and also became a lot more interested in dancing in the past 5 years than he used to be. I think you guys are fooled by his calm, almost zen personality off-stage after watching Hot Ones, so you subconsciously made the assumption that he must’ve calmed down with age or something, but his personality was exactly the same even in 2019 lol. He just channels his energy and emotions into his music and performances.

That shot of Yeonjun and Soobin mid-performance just gave me whiplash like they were so shy—so unaware of their future as BTS’ sons (or babies according to Jin/Jimin)—and to think that right now TXT is older as a group than BTS was at MMA 2019 when that was TXT’s first award show. Time really goes by so quickly. Also the Geks referencing Weak Hero every opportunity (you never truly move on 😫)

Parts of the performance were prerecorded, like “Mikrokosmos,” the scenes in the room, the parts with the horses and others. And YES😂, it’s a traditional Christmas song: “Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel.” All of the individual performances (except RM’s part) are done to remixes of older BTS hits. One last thought…this is an awards show, so there are so many K-pop groups there. Can you imagine how they felt watching this?! In an interview later on Suga’s show he literally apologizes for the standard BTS set for award show performances!!!🤣

Not having a bias is totally fine!!😂 We even have a term for it: “OT7.” It stands for “One True 7.” It means you like all seven members equally! I have been ARMY for 11+ years and I have never been able to pick a bias.😁 I eventually gave up trying to pick one. Later, ARMY came up with the term “OT7” to describe it…which means there are A LOT of us that don’t have a bias.💜

It’s not a concert it’s the Koreans ‘Melon Music Awards’. (MMA) so they’re performing in front of other k-pop artists. Just like Americans have their music awards with other artist. So even though it’s technically not a concert I’ll admit BTS definitely “brought it” like it was their own concert 💯 lol 😅😁💜

Did someone already tell you that all seven of the intro dances for Dionysus were remixes of songs from their previous album eras up to that date in a chronological walkthrough, and that each of the guys was embodying a Greek God? Or that the lights were in the formation of the seven stars of the constellation Corona Borealis, the crown of stars that Dionysus gives to his wife Ariadne? V = Apollo, Jimin = Artemis, Jin = Athena, JK = Poseidon, Suga = Hephaestus, j-hope = Zeus, RM = Dionysus. Also, the first two songs, Boy in Luv and Boy with Luv were NOT from the same album, they were 5 years apart. But they were connected and answering songs. Boy in Luv is a teen rock rap banger about being confused about love and how to express themselves. Boy with Luv is a pop song expressing their growth and more mature understanding of love and tenderness - that love is not posturing and persona and roles you play but is in learning and knowing all the little things about your beloved and having the courage to be tender. It's also dedicated to ARMY. The finger sign is both their classic hand sign from their debut (the finger gun for the Bulletproof Boys) and it also represents a 7, for the seven of them.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but I think this was a little too much for an awards show. I love their 2016 MAMA performance and the 2018 MMA one. BTS were definitely showing off their pull and status with the 2019 one. I dunno if it was the organisers' idea or if it was Big Hit's. For an awards show, this was too long and the whole Dionysus section was just too drawn out. As much as I love BTS, sometimes they have a tendency to do things over the top. At times, these things land, at times they don't, some are downright cringe. While I enjoyed the performances of each song and section, all of it together was too much of self indulgence, theatre and drama for an awards show and some parts were not executed well. And before people come for me, this is my opinion AS A FAN. I love the boys and their music and I vote, stream, buy, the whole Shabang. But this was just too much. I watch reactors to see if any one will ever say it like it is, but most never do. It's sort of a test for me to know who is just catering to ARMY and who is giving honest reactions. Anyway, enjoy!
