Oh yay I love EXOOO!! I always say EXO got me into kpop and bts made me a fan lol. Okay names from left to right: Chanyeol, D.O, Suho ( The leader), Chen, Xiumin, Baekhyun, and Sehun. They debuted on April 8th 2012 under SM entertainment ( the company of vocals), with 12 members although some left for reasons I’m not too sure of since I was never really an EXO-L ( their fandom name). I did read somewhere that the company mistreated their Chinese members but idk. There’s currently 9 members active with the group so that’s not all of them in the killing voice. I think some of the members were doing their military service at the time of the KV. Chen is actually married with 2 kids which is so cute!! We need more of that lol😅

Before BTS, EXO was wayyyy bigger than BTS during the 3rd generation time period. Their label/company unfortunately did them dirty when they didn't let them perform at Coachella and if they did, they would've been the 1st kpop group to perform there. And EXO received invitations from American music award shows, but their label/company declined it. Yeah...their company did them wrong🫩 Honestly, after BTS put out 'Blood Sweat & Tears', that's when they were becoming bigger than EXO. It was hard being both an exo-l and army back then because the fan wars was SERIOUS😭 I'm so excited for you guys to react to the vocal kingssss🥳

also the member tea is that they started with 12 members in 2012, half who sang in chinese and made chinese versions of exo songs, and the other half who made korean songs. then by 2014, 3 chinese members left because their company was being unfair to them, so the company merged the remaining members into just one large group of 9. they currently have 9 members, but one of the chinese members had to go back to China because chinese-korean politics aren’t good. so from 2016 and onward, they promoted with the remaining 8 members. starting 2019/2020, exo members started enlisting, and didn’t finish until 2024, so the reason exo sometimes has a random amount of members in videos post 2020 (like the killing voice) is because other members were enlisted. then, as of 2025, three of the exo members got into legal trouble with their company over promotions with their sub group and now aren’t allowed to promote with exo anymore, which is why as of 2026, they promote with 5 members, and their newest album only had 5 members.

SM artists are just built differently! They honestly are some of the most well-rounded groups in K-pop. You should also definitely check out Shinee! You already reacted to their maknae, Taemin. Unfortunately, Shinee does not have a Killing Voice, but they did release a new album this year with the title track, Atmos! They are basically EXO's older brothers, known as Idol of Idols, and have some of the best vocalists in the industry!

Here I go again lol, deep breaths. Just a suggestion so don’t take it as a negative. As much as I really really really really absolutely love all these killing voices, I hope we don’t get a new one next week. And I know that it’s the fans that ask for it and I appreciate you guys considering our picks cuz I know I’ve definitely been begging for them in these comments. Being a multi I just wanna see more groups on the channel but I think we can slow down now. It’s good to see variety but what’s the point if we’re just gonna get a taste of one group and move on to to next group just like that without really learning anything about the previous group. I’ve noticed that sometimes you guys even ask yourselves “wait have we done this group?” You’ve watched so many now but didn’t get to learn their faces/names to remember. At this rate it’ll be a little better to pick 2-3 groups or sum that you really wanna look into for the next few weeks and really just do a deep dive on them bfr hopping onto the next group. Even with bts, there’s still so much music to cover from them so doing a few more album reactions would be nice to see. Also I remember you guys really liked Cortis. They have a mini docu that you guys can get into to learn more about the members. You can also check out more of their songs. And this might be a stretch cuz I love Seventeen so much lol, but I remember you guys really liking their KV ( or maybe you were just tryna be nice to please the Carats idk), they have PLENTY of variety shows out there that would help you get to know the members. A group guide would also be nice. I just wanted to express that cuz ik a lot if ppl wanna see a deep dive of their favs and aren’t really getting fed with just the KV, plus some groups haven’t done a KV. But regardless, it’s totally up to you, do what works best for you. I completely understand if you guys just wanna continue with the KV and trust me, I will eat every single one of them up! Plus you guys run like fifty different channels so I can only imagine how hard it must be to try and keep everyone happy. Sorry I didn’t mean to write a whole book lol.

You might not be aware, but all SM company artists are amazing vocalists. That's kinda their thing, they also end a lot of songs with high-note. D.O Baekhyun and Chen are amazing. And usually rappers also sing well. They had 12 people (4 Chinese, 8 Korean), then 3 left due to different issues, only 1 Chinese member is left, but he doesn't perform with them cause of political issues. They have 9 people in team, 8 of them had to serve. Usually kpop groups don't go BTS route of enlisting together, so they started enlisting in 2019 and youngest ones just recently got out. They are not very active as group now, Chen is married with kids. I am not a fan, so correct me if needed.

exo is beyond words for me. if there was only one kpop group i could listen to for the rest of my life, it'd be them. thanks for the reaction kiddos, below is some info about members if you wanna read: kai was missing for the killing voice (the one you called sussy in the love shot reaction) since he was serving in the military at the time. lay (exo's chinese member) was also missing, but i honestly don't know how to explain lay's status in the group because although he IS and always will be in exo, he kind of exists separately to the group too. he mostly promotes in china with his solo activities and takes part here and there in exo comebacks; he's like a part-time member (exo-ls please don't kill me for describing him like this, it's the best way i could think to describe him 😅😅). their current situation in terms of members and what not means chen isn't part of group activities unfortunately (i mention chen since he seems to be the collective favourite from the killing voice, but baekhyun and xiumin are also not part of current exo). cbx (the three mentioned members) are in an ongoing lawsuit with their former company and it essentially means they are barred from promoting with the group. it's sad and annoying, but it unfortunately can't be helped. so, current exo consists of: chanyeol, d.o., suho, kai, sehun and lay.

Sehun was always my bias. I think he's the maknae, too. Please correct me if I'm wrong lol I like his quiet chill vibe. It's calming. His singing is really pleasing to me. But yeah Chen definitely has so much power with his vocals. I swear he kept distracting me. He has such a commanding presence. And D.O. is the nonchalant king. He does give Woozi vibes for sure. They look like they are not even trying but sound so majestic. You all aren't wrong. But Baekhyun doesn't play around either. He stands on business. All of them sound so heavenly. That's why they are known as the Kings of R&B. Their b-sides/ballad type songs are so freaking smooth and satisfying. I love them so much.

can i just say, i don't think lay's reason for promoting separately in china was solely because of china-sk relations. i think, at the time, it played a role; but i don't think that's the case anymore (also, they never gave a proper reason). the fact that he is always adamant that he is and forever will be in exo and the members still treat him as such is awesome, but i find it so funny how his participation in the group is always hella unpredictable. like you'll see him in one comeback, but not the next. or he'll show up to promote something with them, but then won't be part of any of their variety content or perform at awards shows or concerts with them. exo might be THE MOST confusing group i have ever known.

cannon, i honestly agree with you about "cream soda" not being their usual style and that's because it was a deliberate choice they made. they wanted to release something that was trendy but also mature and they landed on cream soda. i have to say though, the album that came with it was SO GOOD and SO EXO-CODED that it didn't take away from them at all. "let me in" is one of my favourite exo songs ever and it came from that album, i wish they promoted it on killing voice along with cream soda, but oh wellllll.

I love EXO's Killing Voice but I wish they did more of their slow and soft b-sides so you can get the complete effect of their signature sound such as El Dorado, Oasis, Smile On My Face, 24/7, Universe, Stay, Fall, Been Through, etc. There's too many. Their Winter album is my favorite. It's the perfect music to listen to while curled up in a warm blanket while watching the snow fall against your window. what definitely happened was that he left originally because of the china-korea stuff because there was a literal law against chinese artists promoting in korea/visa issues. and that happened for a year or two. and i think lay was able to renegotiate his contract because of that to stay with the group but then also be allowed to promote with exo when he wanted to. the korea and china stuff has been mostly resolved, which is why he sporadically comes back. but he also had comebacks in china during some of the eras when exo were promoting in korea, so the timing never worked out anyways. i think lay for the most part prefers to build his career in china since because he can’t speak korean, and he blew up in china as a result of being in exo-m.

Finally, EXO!!! Their B-sides are faaaaar superior than their title tracks. Most of their B-sides are R&B and Funk influenced. For example, I loved Let Me In and Hear Me Out, 2 b-side songs (with MVs) from the album with Cream Soda as its title track. They have a pretty extensive discography filled with bangers. Chen, Beakhyun, and D.O. are the main vocalist and they are pretty legendary for their vocal skills among kpop groups and EXO as a whole are called the vocal kings because of their skills and harmonies.

I dont listen to too many kpop groups, just songs here and there but DO is REALLY good. I have always loved his solo songs a lot. "M gonna love you" "Popcorn" And many more. I dont remember the titles. He sang Rewrite the stars and did great! He should release more good solo songs. He has a very clear voice.

i've been in the k-sphere since 2012 and I have no horse in the current race so lemme tell you smth... back then, when EXO debuted, it was a BIG deal in the intl kpop fandom, and while they didn't really garner much success in Korea until "Growl", their intl fandom was huge and matched only by one other group that debuted the same year- BAP. Eventually BAP's popularity plateaued bc of their management but EXO did not stop growing. They were /the/ top for several years, and around 2016 it started becoming the /two/ tops, EXO and BTS. Then it was all we could do to watch as BTS's popularity rapidly surged and surpassed EXO, but even then, EXO remained the solid number two for some time. but I think Stray Kids surpassed them sometime around 2020-2022, and now Enhypen and Cortis have picked up enough traction (and with continued EXO controversies and members leaving leading to their declining popularity) that I would probably say EXO *might* still be managing top 5 in popularity. Still great for a 14 y/o group. (my faves were BTOB/GOT7/NCT throughout the peak of my fandom involvement, and now I'm just a casual listener watching the charts, so no shade to any groups I mentioned)

GUUYSS the fan war between ARMY and EXO-Ls was so crazy and big, it was like World War 3 honestly. Between 2016-2019 you had to pick a side, you couldnt be a fan of both groups otherwise people would attack you. Even now sometimes you can see the 2 fandoms collide and argue. BTS's Blood Sweat and Tears really ended careers.

Exo was a slightly experimental group to test out the popularity of kpop in china after a few Chinese idols debut in the 2nd generation. They were split Exo-K (korean) and Exo-M (mandarin). They would release the same song but in the different languages with different lineups. The concept of the split group ended as chinese members left the group. fun fact/lore drop the reason for the seemingly random introduction at the start of overdose was because shortly after that song came out, there was a question on the korean national standardized test asking what is 중독 in english (korean title of overdose, but the word actually means addicted), and most students got it wrong because they answered "overdose" thinking of the song, but titles of kpop songs are not always a literal 1:1 translation to english (another example of this is snsd's "genie" korean title being "tell me your wish")

I really wish you guys would check out some of EXO’s live performances someday! 😭 They’re already amazing in their MVs and even on Killing Voice, but seeing them perform live is a whole different experience. They have this incredible stage presence, and their vocals are just on another level. Over the years and even when I first got into Kpop, I used to listen to Exo songs as well as a few solos on repeat, like genuinely a lot (I still do for a couple of them) and yet somehow I never bothered to check any Exo interviews, or to get to know the group properly, I don't even know why, I guess I was busy with other fandoms. This video reminded me once again of how freaking good their songs and voices are, and the dynamic as a group looks interesing, I wanna know what they're like so bad..! I guess I'm late, but perhaps I'll be able to call myself an Exo-L soon! I should've been an Exo-L back in the day, feels like I missed out😭 I'm excited to check out more of their songs. the issue is that exo were only benefited by having a well known korean company in terms of the asian market. their company literally went out of their way to hinder their global or american development my preventing them from attending the american award shows and festivals they were invited to/nominated at. the difference with bts is that bts’ company allowed them to gain american exposure.
