I think it is wrong to say that he was using her for sex. I think you are forgetting or did not pick up on the fact that she was the aggressor in the sexual relationship. This is 1944 which means that she has had to deal with death and destruction for 5 years. Her comment about Hitler being the ONLY one responsible for the deaths in this war shows that she has lost at least 1 person that she was close to. Maybe she just needs to embrace an intimate connection with someone. The way her mood changed and how she rushed away when she got that message makes me curious if she got news of a death of someone very close to her and she needed to be alone.
