This is great timing as I finally ordered new headphones and an amp/DAC so I could listen to the masters on them! Good luck with the leak, hope they fix it soon! About AotA, it depends if you want your original to be a rare exclusive item like an exotic supercar or available to all to buy in physical format.

TheAlb

I hope the leak can be fixed today. It seems like you caught it early and I hope that there isn't any internal damage done to the wall :D. I do look forward to the mastered versions. Not sure that I would be able to hear the difference, but than I never really had the chance to listen to a non-mastered as well as different mastered version. Therefore this is exciting :D. In regards to AotA that is a tricky one. For me, having done part of my growing up in a less digital world, a physical item of important things are still very valuable to me. Specifically as a digital version feels a bit more fleeing (to me only). Probably for me niece and nephew growing up in a digital world it might be something different. However that is more from a personal remembrance point of view, which would be 1 (personal) copy compared to a few 100th (sale). Also AotA has been around for a while. With your changes to the booklet, even so it is improve (not sure I say that very often when it comes to streamlining :p), it would feel different (to me) and wouldn't be quiet the same AoTA that you initially released (the initial milestone of a released CD), e.g. AotA2.0 than AotA. It does sound that it wold fit more into the special edition. However that would depend on when you plan (I know plans change) to release the special edition. If, for the sake of argument, it would be 3 month away than a re-released would make less sense to me than if it would be longer away. Unless I misunderstood something there ;) Which than also ia a question of how much it would cost yourself. PS.: Really glad you liked the surprise. It was great fun, specifically seeing it come together :).

June Marie (CosmoDings)

Oooh! I'm really looking forward to hearing the different masters! It will be very interesting to hear the differences! On AotA above; I would love to have it as a physical album, but that may just as well be the special edition when that comes out. And I agree with the points made by TM599 and TheAlb. But it's up to you :). Hope they get the leak fixed asap without any further issue.

I think the AotA is a bit tricky thing. To hear All of the Above revisited after years, hear how the technique, style etc. changed would be fun but honestly I'd much rather hear evolution through new original material. But to spend time and money on re-releasing the original with just few pages of booklet changed? Mixed feelings. I think it would take much more to make it into a special edition and get people to rebuy the album. Malu pressed n vinyl, new artwork, stories and commentary? This kind of thing. Unless of course if there is a really big call out from people wanting to buy, distributors going 'Malukah! There are lines of people each day asking for the album!'. Even if the physical version is scarce, in the age of digital outlets it's not like people can't listen to it. I agree with Dr. Piet. As tempting as going back in time and doing corrections from today's point of view might be, the beauty of if lies in how it is. How it was made. Please don't fall into the trap many artists did - Malukah Greatest Hits 17 - 2018 Remaster - 14 songs on 19 CDs. You're way to young and creative for this :) Sign me up for Malukah Anthology on vinyl in 20 years though :maluHype: ;) As for the mastered version? Great idea. You should do a blind test without describing which one is which and have a boat :P It would be so fun to see what our ears say vs the cost vs your idea as the author.

Kristian Ask (St.Kizza)

I agree with GregRauv and Dr.Piet on this. It might be very tempting to go back and "fix" things, but look at is as a piece of history. You were amazing back then and even better now. The evolving from there to now is also part of the history. For the mastering i think i will set my self as "the tenth man" regarding the mastering algorithm. Yes technology is exiting, but will it ever have the "human touch"? I` m not saying that you should not try it, i` m saying that i hope it will not erase mastering done by humans. Even if it might end up lighter on the wallet.

Pretty cool! So, we get to look forward to 4 mastered versions of IFTM? It was a good idea to experiment with the various companies, especially the algorithm one. Wouldn’t it be funny if it automatically created a disco remix of the song? Hahaha! What would be interesting though is if your own mastered version is way better than the $200 version. Then, I think you’d wear your Berklee degree with a crap ton of pride right? Get a gold frame to put it up on the wall….I think to have the AotA physical album still available would be pretty neat to have. I totally get that it is a part of you and to not have it out there in the world might make it seem like a part of you is missing. Of course there’s the digital version, but I am so old school that I love owning the physical copies. I’m sure the newcomers of your music would appreciate having it available. And yes, having printed lyrics in a little booklet with a few pictures inside are always the best. I would always feel bummed discovering that there were no lyrics in certain albums. I say do what you want to do. Another +5 to organizational skills (I saw you reading them written notes)

I would have to agree with Chanda ...I think you should keep the original AotA as it is.. it is a great composition.. even vintage bands reprint old material. you should continue to grow and remaster your songs however your past achievement you should not let fade away :) .. I have a digital copy of almost everything you have released. however as Chanda says having something physical allows your fans to have the tactile experience as a part of you Malu .. AAAAAaand... it is hard to get a digital copy personally signed :)
