Hahaha! When I edit these videos later it makes me laugh how much I talk with my hands. It's something I don't really notice while it's happening.

Here's the latest! Oh, and here's a link to the video I mention about the tree. This video made me think and reevaluate sharing music online.

I'm so excited for you! I get nervous these days when I hear creators throw out phrases like "The future of the channel" since they tend to go down the road of doom and gloom and YouTube is terrible now and so on. But your optimism is wonderful! I love that you try to embrace all of the platforms, and I really hope a fresh approach to YouTube works well for you. Good luck, lots of love, and see you soon!

Thank you for the check-in! I'm glad to hear that you're "taking it back" and doing what you want with the Youtube channel. That is how it should be :). Hope you have a wonderful week and good luck on the filming this weekend!

The motivational issue is subjective and it depends on what someone needs motivation for. I can understand that staying focused or motivated to complete music projects can be challenging. You are creating something that comes directly from you, so the process can take time and a lot of effort, especially when sometimes you have to be in a certain mindset or a certain mood to create. So, lacking motivation is understandable. Even if you don’t believe certain projects are “monumental feats,” you should believe that they are. You should be proud of all your projects, no matter how big or small they are. Perhaps with that kind of mentality, of having unconditional pride of your work, it could help motivate you to do more and be even more creative. In regards to your YouTube channel, remember that it is not realistic to make everyone happy. Some might love your covers, some might hate them, some might like only your video game songs, some might not even like Christmas songs, but I think many of them still subscribe to your channel or support you in other ways because they like you, as a creator of music. There will always be bumps in the road (esp. on YT), but we all know they are a part of life. I think that once you feel as if your creativity is being determined/influenced by something that is not genuine, you need to reevaluate, recharge, and/or readjust. The whole point of being a musical creator is to create. And that creativity comes directly from you. No one told Picasso how to paint. He just painted. Hmm, maybe I should stick to the music theme: No one told Mozart how to compose music. He just composed. :P

Crazy MaluHands and "Thanks for watching" : what more could I ask for ? Thanks for the update.

well Malu, I studied graphic design from home during a full time job. So I know what you mean by getting distracted. I think the best what helped me is to make little steps every day instead of having one major thing once a week. I made myself a To-Do-List on the evening what I wanna finish on the next day. It helped me more to focus and not being overwhelmed from my tasks. Also As soon as you love what you are doing it make things easier. Have a wonderful week malu and hopefully see you soon on your streams. ^_^

I think motivation and being able to finish the project is a very personal thing. There is no universal solution as the reasons vary so greatly from person to person. I always struggled with procrastinating, and leaving everything to the last possible moment, just before the deadline, when the stress would whip me into working. This made things even worse when working on my own projects where there were no deadlines. I would do them half way through until the initial excitement worn off, and put them on a shelf to finish later. And more often than not they would stay there, gathering dust over the years... One thing that I found works for me, especially when working on my own, was setting a schedule, some constant daily plan I could follow. So for example each day I would sit down at 9 sharp, and work for at least 4 hours. Consciously without distraction, without pauses to check what's happening on youtube or reddit. Avoiding everything that could lead me astray from actually doing what I've set to do. It was Working Time. And it helped, and after a while with repetition day after day it became easier and more of a daily custom. Still requiring discipline but less painful :P Awesome you're reactivating the Youtube channel. I can understand where the unease came from, and being stuck in a niche that got you the initial traction. But take a look at it from another angle. In today's digital media world which is so saturated with new content and alternatives there is only one certain way to loose followage and views - stop publishing content. Each video you don't post is lost views and revenue. It's not a question of 'Oh, I will get 120k views instead of a million so I will not do it'. It's a question of 10k, 120k views vs no views at all. And when you stop posting, or post very rarely people forget about you. Stop checking and eventually unsubscribe to clean up their list - there are just too many alternatives coming out on regular basis. With getting out of the niche of gaming related content, or the medievalish vibe, look at the advantages you have. On every single music stream, Patreon and office hours you have a focus group giving you feedback and support. Most likely plenty of us did initially hear about you thanks to the game music related videos, but we stayed for all the rest. Look at how much traction you originals are getting, both in English and Spanish. How much people enjoy your old work from All of the above, and how many of us support you to one day hear the new album - and those are the things people on Youtube have absolutely no idea about - you never really showed them this. They don't know Judith and her music, because you never really shown it there. Most of the people on Youtube don't have a clue you're streaming on Twitch - on every stream there are people randomly dropping by and going 'OMG you're the Skyrim girl! I love you!' and stay despite stream not being skyrimy. You have things like statistics of the songs requested. Use this. Phew, this came out longer than I thought. Tia Greg, out :P

Hi malu, would you ever consider uploading the background music you sometimes use with your vlogs/updates?? I really love it, it always makes me feel so nostalgic and warm

Your decision about your YouTube channel is correct. Enjoy what you do, do what you enjoy. Your loyal fans will appreciate it:-) Much love to you <3

I got mentioned in a video? :malupanic: *runs around barring the windows and doors* :P You know, when you mentioned taking the channel back it reminded me of Generalukah, I was just waiting for you to order the charge lol. On a serious note, great to hear that you'll be uploading more, I can't wait!! :maluhype: And honestly I really don't think it matters that your videos aren't Skyrim or game related necessarily, yes TDC is what got the channel noticed initial, but I'd suggest that that time has passed, it got the channel noticed because at the time skyrim was the biggest thing out there, I think if you were just at the point of releasing TDC now it'd have much different results, it'd still be a great song, and anyone who saw it would love it, but I don't think it would get noticed so much, if that makes any sense at all, sticking to something that worked originally, while it may keep viewers who joined for that happy, will damage growth, whereas I think your current viewerbase would be happy to listen to anything you sing........ I mean you sang the phone book and we loved it, you sang a recipe and we loved it, surely that tells you it's not about what it is your singing, it's about the fact that it's you singing. As they say "Come for dragon born, stay for the reverb queen!!" Anyways, it's entirely likely that made literally no sense cos it's nearly 11PM and my brain is on holiday lol

I can understand a bit where the worry comes from, having had success with something that you also very much liked and the worry about change. Sometimes I think Musicians are in the difficult situation to "Do I experiment or Do I stick with known stuff". Experiments might loose you some or might bring you some new people, but it also lets you test and grow. I;m glad to hear that you are "taking back" your YouTube channel. I guess some people might not like it However most of us likely came to you via your "older works" and discovered all the different sides of you e.g. original songs etc. So it is very good that you want to share more of this to outside the "usual channels" and let them all see more of your incredible skill, talent and facets and express yourself more. Looking very much forward to it. :)

Hi Malu. I've thought about your motivational question for a while. In music, I find spreading myself too thinly is my main problem. I love it when I'm learning a new piece, but when it comes to putting the effort in to iron out the performance bugs as I become familiar with it, I'm too easily diverted to the stuff that's less effort. Especially if I've got too much on the go at once.

James Debbs

Malu, From the time I first discovered your music via your YouTube channel, I have been a big fan and enjoy the diverse range of music which you do, not just the gaming related stuff, but your collaboration with Peter Hollens on Babu Yetu, and your original music like Follow the Moon.

James Debbs

Do what excites and inspires you and try not to obsess over whether or not "everyone" likes it. For each new piece you release, there will be those who do enjoy it and those who may not like it. Remember that even big-name stars can release music which doesn't resonate with their fans from time to time, but that is not a reason to overthink your decisions or feel that you have let your fans down. What is important is that by doing what speaks to you in terms of projects and songs you choose to work on, that it is helping you to grow as an artist. I hope that your taking charge of your YouTube music channel once more turns out to be a fulfilling and rewarding experience for you! You rock and I look forward to what you release next!
