Thank you for listening!

I hope you're well and happy.

It's perfectly understandable, and I can relate. I write poetry, but mainly as an outlet for myself. I need either emotional or situational context, and often it's too personal to share, some of it I do. Words find me, it cannot be forced. I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that the support here is because of you being you. That is, as far as I'm concerned, the only expectation. It's not about quantity or even fulfilling a promise of a tier. I don't really care about that. When you release a song I enjoy it no matter what, and that matters. As far as time is concerned, procrastination is a characteristic of pretty much any artist, me included (I paint as well, digitally, among other things). As Shakespeare so aptly put it in Hamlet, "“This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day..." (or the moon perhaps? ;)), that's what matters. And yes, these mini-podcasts are definitely nice, but only if you feel like doing them.

Malukast! I would defiantly listen and support a malukah podcast. This new audio thing is nice. I like it.

I'm into the audio note feature. Ultimately the most important thing is that you do what makes you happy. The whole reason I'm here is to make it easier for you to do what you love, and whatever that happens to look like is cool by me. Please don't feel pressured to do anything you're not up to doing just to put content up here. If you'd like to do video updates, by all means do video updates. If audio is more comfortable I'm totally cool with that. I always look forward to hearing your music, but I completely understand that art takes time to produce and there will be times in life when you're not up to working on it for whatever reason. Again, that's why I'm here. The little bit I can afford to toss your way every month is so that you have the time to go through your process without worrying about how long it might take or where the rent is coming from, so to speak.

Trying out new processes is useful, sometimes you find something that works or discover what doesn't. In both cases you've learned something. I like the audio note feature! I don't listen to podcasts (or audio books) because my mind wanders off after a while but for short updates like this it's great! <3

It was good to listen to this “podcast”. It is also good that you experiment with different ways of communicating. That way you can use what you feel is right and with what you feel comfortable with in a give situation be that posts, podcast style notes, videos etc. It sounds very reasonable that you don’t want to share something you think isn’t finished etc. It is good / understandable to keep this treasure trove of ideas and let them “grow” when the are “ready” ...if that makes sense. It was always nice to see some of these ideas as it gave me an insight into an artists way of thinking. But you know when you are ready to share something and when not :). All the best with your original album.

I like this confessional format. And it's relatable. I'm also this chronic procrastinator to the point where at times I miss out on accomplishing things that really should be accomplished.. So yeah it's good then to set some priorities on what is important and what is less important. Anyway I'll stop talking before I start to treat you like therapy lol. Just focus on what you feel is important and don't take on too many tasks at the same time cause that'll only be counterproductive.

Malu, I think most people here would agree, take your time. Don't try to rush the process because you feel you have to get something released. I for one am not here for someone to be churning out music en masse, I am here to support a wonderful Mexian artist who produces some wonderful music and I'm perfectly happy for you to take as long as you need. My support isn't based on quantity of music released, it's there to help allow you to be you, and work in whatever ways and at whatever speed is most suitable for you because I know that if you're given the time you need you can produce some amazing stuff!! I think the audio notes are great, I love the videos too, but honestly I would much prefer you use whatever medium you are most comfortable with to share updates and such, don't force yourself to do something your not entirely comfortable with because you think you should for us. As for the podcast idea, I think the fact you have no theme in mind isn't a bad thing, I mean I watched a podcast for several years (they used to make this podcast while playing Minecraft, they'd upload the video to YT and make just audio available elsewhere) where they'd have a theme to begin with, and within about 60 seconds would have gone off and just started talking about random rubbish and just generally throwing banter around for an hour, it was one of the best things I've ever watched for a good laugh, I think though you'd need to get a few friends involved so it's gives more of a conversation and you can bounce of others and have that banter and such. Anyways, that's just my thoughts, and wow I write too much..... take my keyboard away :malupanic: :malulol:

Hi Malukah. I enjoyed the videos because you make me smile. However, I am perfectly happy with whatever method of communication suits you (although I might struggle with Morse Code) I'm really excited to hear that the album is coming along. That's why I'm here (although Thor is another benefit!). You should definitely take it at your own creative pace and you are right not to divert your effort from it for monthly Malu-songs that you end up rushing.

Daniel Emerald

you can not force creativity. It is a concept that large corporations keep trying to do looking for the next big thing that will make them rich, but the reality is TRUE CREATIVITY IS AN ELUSIVE FISH lol Do what you feel comfortable with as far as communicating your feelings around your process. I like both formats video and audio. The fact that you as an artist put yourself out there is inspiring. An example to others that maybe they could do the same. Set yourself realistic doable goals, have a plan as to what steps you need to accomplish to achieve those goals, then take time every day to review with yourself how you are doing. Nothing magic about this advice, standard mentoring feedback from 40 years working in HiTech development. I look forward to your next sharing of your life and dreams! It is a privilege to be a part of your continued quest, be at peace! Have Fun!

I think when you force yourself to write, there’s the possibility that the song could lack the genuine and raw elements that make the song special. And not to mention the added pressure of finishing it for sake of finishing it. Sure, it’s done, but as you said, it’s not up to your standards. I remember a country singer Shania Twain mentioned that when she was just starting off in Nashville, she was required to sit in a group with others for a certain amount of time to write songs. And she hated it because it felt so forced and disingenuous, especially since she always wrote in a more natural setting. I know you’re not the type of person who is willing to display substandard work, so I totally get it. It’s still good to set goals, but the journey toward that goal is what should matter the most. Also, I think having a Malukast is just as good as a video. In fact you seem a tad more open/vulnerable. :)

Nice feature and interesting to listen too.

Zkin

These audio notes are great because I can do other stuff on my phone while I listen. With the video it’ll stop playing as soon as I try to do something else.

James Debbs

I like that you will be creating these Malukasts going forward to give your fans insight into what is going on with you and what you're working on. Like Lucas, i like that i can listen while doing other things or on my commute. Thanks!

Vernard

I enjoyed your audio notes, Malu. With a surname like mine the mention of graveyards will always get my attention. *chuckle*

FloundericiousWA

you're genuinely fun to listen to, feel free to drop one of these whenever you feel like it! therapy-r-us is ok by me! :)

David C Walton

Please give us more. I love just hearing you speak. i

I’m late but yesss this is cool! <3 <3

Pauline Schrott

Hey Malukah! I love your compositions and creative energy you have for your music. I am inspired to reach out and support you in any way I can. I wonder do you have an active email business opportunities?

Thijs Bos

Now, I like the MaluKast because it allows me to continue scrolling through patreon, on the other hand I get distracted and miss something I wouldn't do if watching a video. So there's pros and cons. I can go either way with them.

Thijs Bos

Also Malu, I am 'writing' a book for about 8 years now and wrote 60 pages. (A4, which I think is 120 novel size pages?) So yeah, I know your pain
