Hey guys! Happy Monday!

I'm just now putting together September's cover list for the monthly vote and would love to include some ideas from you along with my own running list of "cover to-do's" hehehe.

Is there a video game related song you think would be a nice fit for my voice type?

Thank you in advance for your help. Big hug from Mexico,

Malu

Hey Malu! I think it would be cool for you to sing Still Alive from Portal!

Talon24

Montañas Nubladas (Misty Mountains in Spanish)? :D

Grad

Maybe Farewell from Kholat game?

TM599

A bit different from what you usually cover, but Need For Speed Underground 2 featured (a cover of) Riders on the Storm.

Geoffro / Hex3D

I have so many in mind but they do not have lyrics LOL ... but whatever comes i'm sure it will be great!

vyciaga

will the circle be unbroken your version sounds beautifully

Nephilim1977

Maybe something from the NieR:Automata soundtrack? Some great tunes on that with vocals.

Letodan

Hi Malu!! Don't know if you consider this a possibility for you but, I'd be curious to hear your version of La Llorona from the Pixar movie Coco. I'm sure you'd do wonderful!! Take care!! ❤

Pauliina D

Ooh! You've already done a couple of the Dragon Age songs but 'Rise' would be super lovely sung by you, as would be 'Enchanter'. Also, I don't know if you're familiar with the incredible Skyrim full conversion mod Enderal (and if not, I can only highly recommed it!) but it has some really gorgeous bard songs I'd love to hear your take on. 'Winter Sky', for one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHCCG_vUA7k

Erik Jensen

Hi Malu. I would love to hear your cover of Heart of Steel by Manowar ( My favorite band ) I Really thought many timers to ask you About exactly that song. So now get to work, that's an order. Hahaha ;)

Andrew Kell

Gladiator - Now We Are Free :)

Scott McAree

These might sound random, but I think you would sing either 'The Climb' by Miley Cyrus or 'Bella Notte' from Lady and The Tramp awesomely. :)

Richard Glidden

This might be better for October due to the content, but "Sing for Me (Lohse's Version)" from the Divinity Original Sin II soundtrack would be interesting. It's a song about a bard who is possessed by demons that controls the audience through her songs. It's got some great percussion in it, and a really interesting section in the middle with haunting voices softly calling (the demons) with lots of dissonance. The version from the game is good but kind of flat dynamically with almost everything at the same volume. I would love to hear what you could do with it. I think it would fit really well with the way you typically start quiet and simple and build to a more powerful version. I could also see you having a lot of fun with the percussion and dissonant section. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR1axrWxcpg

Richard Glidden

I was thinking about Sins and Gods as well, but thought it might be too complicated and a little lacking in actual words. The same two or three themes are repeated throughout the entire soundtrack though. There might be a good opportunity to combine a few themes into a medley of sorts as well.

Christina Karas

I’ve loved hearing you sing music from Journey some time in the distant past ... Also, I would love a re-recording of Fear Not This Night. Oldies but goodies. :)

Clint Schroeder

How about Duel of the Fates? Or as a collaborative effort

TheAlb

I was thinking of this song as well. The other possibility would be "Divine’s lament" from the same game / soundtrack.

Thalandor46

I'm pretty sure I've listed these out before, but screw it, I'mma do it again! ALSO! Why are you running from Answers, Malu? ;) Bastion - Setting Sail Coming Home (Collab with Peter, maybe?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDflVhOpS4E Bastion - Build That Wall (Part of the above song, but very different and solo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3SZee4YZX8 .hack//GU - Hulle Granz Cathedral https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCMkh8MRMNQ Final Fantasy VI - Wanderer of Time (Terra's Theme from the FF Vocal Collection) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzCEPRDOyaA Guild Wars 2 - Weather the Storm (A fan made track for a contest, based on lyrics from one of the novels) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abpg54uEVKM Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword - Ballad of the Goddess (Apparently there's no official track with the vocals?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uySvepU0f2Y Nier - Grandma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm-X7KBBacM Nier - Kaine Salvation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viDKam_hmGM Nier Automata - Weight of the World (or anything from the Nier games, really) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egn_VNVKzI4 To The Moon - Everything's Alright https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkvVr6n1cGk *cough* Jewel - Foolish Games *cough* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNoouLa7uxA

I know most of the ost's from the Dark Souls series don't have vocals to them, but the soundtracks in the games are always feel so deeply moving and immersive. It would be awesome to see you expand one of the themes with a tribute song like you did for Rise From the Dark and Reignite. I'm not sure if you're a fan of the series though so (though I know it's way more off base in terms of genre) it would also be awesome to see you try and do a metal style tribute for a DOOM ost! Whatever you sing I'm sure you'll make another awesome piece of art. Always an epic emotive experience listening to your music Malu!

Chanda Panda

No song suggestion, but I wanted to say that you took a lovely angle-lic picture. 😍😇

Tori Roozekrans

The Last Rose of Cintra from the witcher tv series?

Molmod

It's got an awful lot of different vocal parts to sing, but Sogno do Volare from Civ 6 is a great song from Christopher Tin https://youtu.be/nAYtztCJvr0

wooden knight

You could make your own version of the lullaby of woe from the witcher 3 i know you already covered this song with Peter hollens but a version of you only could be nice ^_^

Elizabeth Jolicoeur

Something from the game Fable would be funky. As far as I remember not many songs with lyrics (other than the evil gnomes) but I could actually see you doing yer malukah thing and making it sounds funky.

simon siddall

I would definately enjoy something from Bastion like Build that Wall

Leonineus

I can't think of any video game ones that you haven't already covered from games I play, but since you have done a couple of covers of popular non-video game songs before, I would personally suggest either Forgiven or Say My Name by Within Temptation, I think those two songs would be really beautiful sung by you!

Mike Haffey

Song of Exile from the 2004 movie King Arthur. Hard to find a good version and I think you could crush it!

malukah

Oooooh, what a strong start to the suggestion list. Hahaha! Love it.

malukah

Hahaha! Lejos de.... las montañaaaaas nublaaadaaaas ♪♫♪♬ hahahahahaha!

malukah

Hehehehe! :D Thank you. It was always my dream to look like an angle. :D

malukah

Listening now. This IS a cool song :D I didn't know it. I'm not familiar with the game. I mean, I know it exists, but I've never played it myself.

malukah

Oooooh this one would be cool, but I feel it's a bit ambitious because of the time at this moment.

malukah

I do love this idea very much! And I would definitely like to do this in the future. I think I will leave it for next year, just to make sure to give the version with Peter it's own space. But count on it next year! Thanks for the suggestion, Yann!

malukah

This is a song that I would love to make a cover of for sure. Thanks for reminding me of it!

malukah

Hahahaha! :D Thanks for the suggestion, it's quite an epic song. Listening now, hadn't heard it before.

malukah

This one is a MUST, buuuuuut. I would rather wait 'til next year because I feel it would be best if I'm feeling more normal and back in singing shape. Right now, I feel I must pick simpler songs because that is all the brainpower I have. hahaha! :D

malukah

I actually have always liked the Climb. It may be my favorite Miley song, now that I think of it. :D Hopefully, next year, I can dive into some more movie covers (The Climb was from a movie soundtrack, right?). Just now, remembering the song... it could be lovely to do a more calm, acoustic arrangement of it... Thanks for the suggestion! I love it!

malukah

Ooooh this song does have a very nice dreamy middle section with those vocals. Niiiice! I hadn't heard it before. Thanks for introducing me to it!

malukah

hahaha! Thalandoooor. I am running from Answers because the first part is lovely, but the second half of it sounds suuuuper challenging hahaha! :D I feel I'm not in fighting shape for that right now. But it shall be on the list for when I'm able to sing a bit better! And thanks for the other recommendations, too!

malukah

Dominic, thank you so much! I've loved making "tribute songs" where I take music from the games and write original lyrics. Unfortunately, legally, this gets suuuuuper complicated. What I've learned from past experiences is that it would be for the best to write something fully original, but it's a challenge I haven't been confident about taking on quite yet. I'm hoping 2021 will be the year when I'll have a chance to try this! <3

malukah

And aaaaactually, now that you mention it... Years ago, I started playing around with a melody for a metal-ly song about Doom. I must find this idea and dust it off, see if it could be worth exploring further!

malukah

I think this would be lovely!!!!

malukah

Hey Letodan! Thanks for the suggestion!

Thalandor46

That makes sense! Don't go taking my teasing too seriously :)

malukah

Sometimes the music is sooo beauuuutiful and it makes me want to add lyrics just to be able to record it... BUT. Legally, it becomes very complicated because you need a particular permission from copyright holders to do this, and that can be hard to get for an indie musician. :( Zelda, I think, is a good example of a game OST I wish had lyrics!!!!

malukah

Haha! No worries, your message made me laugh cause INDEED, I have been chickening away from Answers. hahahaha! :D

Scott McAree

That'd be awesome, yeah it was Miley's best song, it was a movie, I'd love to hear movie soundtrack covers in the future :)

Richard Glidden

You're welcome. The rest of the soundtrack is worth a listen as well. It's very good. If you're looking for a game to try, you should check out the game too. I think you'd like it. It's a ton of fun to play multiplayer (but solo is great too). They did a really good job with the whole soundtrack, and you can even choose an instrument for each character and the soundtrack changes slightly depending on your instrument choice. Plus being turn-based, it's great for when little ones interrupt a gaming session. No danger of getting killed or needing to pause. ;)

Liquid

How about MGS3 "Snake Eater?"

Liquid

It's a bit extravagant but if anybody can hit that high note it's you!

Sasha

How about "Jovano, Jovanke". I have heard medieval versions on German medieval-fairs. A Great eGuitar cover and symphonic interpretations at Elbphilharmonie. A nice challenge is its 7/8 rhythm. Ever since I have enjoyed your version of Witcher more than a year ago, I wanted to bring "Jovano Jovanke" to your attention . It is also in a Slavic language. If you need support with versions, links, texts or pronunciation, please let me know. I would be honoured.

Shyano

Maybe one of the bard songs from Enderal, like Winter Sky?

Shyano

Warning I forgot: It has been known to cause people to weep. Including me.
