Helloooo!

How is it mid October already? Can somebody explain? hehe

I got the Scarborough Fair video back from Cristy and wanted to show you a clip so you can see the warmth she captured with her use of lighting.

As I mentioned before, this was filmed on the same morning as the Daughter of the Sea vid, in the same room. I just changed my shirt and jewelry. I took off my 10 Avril-Lavigne-like bracelets and just left one that was a gift from my friend Panda. hehe. I'm still very amused by the difference in overall look and feel.

I should be getting Alex Knutsen's guitars back this Friday and will mix the new version of the song before I publish the video. I'm also gonna try my best to convince Alex to film his guitar performance, too. I feel it would add so much! Hopefully, he'll have time.

My maternity leave starts next month, so I held advanced votes for Nov/Dec and now I'm simultaneously working on what will be the final 3 covers of the year. October spoiler alert: the winner was Sound of Silence, by Simon & Garfunkel!

I'll share the other two a bit later... just to keep you in suspense. hahahahaha :)

And I'm curious, would you be interested in a Daughter of the Sea vlog where I talk about the process and what I learned while recording, filming, etc? Or should I let that go and just keep moving? I wasn't able to film in the moment, so it would be an after-the-fact chat.

Hope you are well! Big hug from Monterrey,Malu

Video is set to private Malu. But regarding Daughter of the Sea I would love to see this kind of office hours breakdown of it and how you managed to make it so nice.

June Marie (CosmoDings)

What they said ;). When it comes to the vlog, I always find it interesting to get more insight to the process, especially with song that you did differently. But if you feel that there’s not enough time, you skip this one. Up to you :).

Letodan

Like they said... can't see it at the moment!

Kristian Ask (St.Kizza)

It is alway fun to see the workings of Malu`s inner machinery, so yes i think we all want to see some MaluVlog :-)

malukah

Yay! Ok thank you, St. Kizza! :D

Klaus Borek

perfect, thanks for sharing

Christer Lind

Is the video supposed to go on without sound from 1.18 to 2.33? Anyway it sounds good so far I look forward to the full version.

Letodan

This is outrageous... One of my favorite song and I was so captivated by the vid, listening and all, watching you with the guitar... almost in a trance... and then, suddenly... it stops!! ARGGG!! You are a horrible person Malu!! Now I have to wait again... ;-) Lol!! Now, more seriously, I would love to see any vlog you can show us Malu. More Malukah is only a good thing. I love to find out about the process. I was even thinking while watching this WAY TOO short extract, what are Cristy's feelings towar your music. Has she ever told you? I feel one must be sensitive to a song to be able to capture it perfectly and I think Cristy does a great job at it!

MikelArchangel

This was just beautiful. Love the song so far. If I were being selfish I would want the Vlog about Daughter of the Sea (I voted for it at least 2 times if not 3) but you have much on your hands right now. Make the decision that best suits you. Hope all is well and you and Dante are Super Healthy!

malukah

Hey Christeeer! I think there may be some issues with YouTube. It does seem to play for me... maybe it's something that will be fixed in a few minutes? I had some problems with errors during the upload so it may just be a momentary thing.

malukah

I think I can do it. I did take notes through the process, and it was definitely a process where I learned things, which would also help me in the future to remember these lessons! :D I shall do it!@

malukah

Hahaha! Soooon, Letodan! Sooon! Luckily, Cristy has enjoyed all the songs that we've filmed videos for! She had the Sinking Ships song stuck in her head for months haha. She also loved My Immortal. In general, I feel that it definitely helps in making the job super fun for both of us. Time flies. And for me, it helps my confidence to know that I don't have someone trapped working for hours listening to something they don't like. I would be sooooo self-conscious if that happened!

MikelArchangel

Learning is always good. I don't think I ever want to stop learning!

Cristy is a magician. This video feels so soft and warm and tender even, whereas Daughter of the Sea was so cold, distanced and raw. I love them both and it shows the talents and range of both Cristy´s video magic and your music magic. Also what Letodan said, I was super immersed and then it ended, can´t wait for the full version. <3 I am always interested in the process behind an arrangement (musical and visual) and even more for Daughter of the Sea because it was super different from the original and even from the way you usually do covers. What a pleasure to be part of this journey.

Letodan

I can imagine how her appreciation must help your confidence and even, your performance in the video. You two make a great team it seems and please, let her know that her work is very much loved by us too!! You can never get enough compliments on your work. It gives a meaning to what you are doing!

TheAlb

the vid looks great. Such a wonderful but different ton that Christi achieved there. Such a nice complimentary part to your great cover work. :) Would be nice if Alex would have enough time to film his guitar part. For the vlog, I'm always interested in it. Specifically in this one as it is such a wonderful version you've created there. However only if you got enough time.

James Debbs

It is absolutely amazing the difference that was achieved with just the lighting to set a completely different tone from the Daughter of the Sea video! I cannot wait to see the completed video and definitely looking forward to your cover of Sound of Silence! Keep up the great work, Malu!

Helvellyn

Love it. First knew of this song because my mum would play it on the guitar when I was a kid (it was the only thing I ever remember playing, I must ask her about that!)

Diana ABK

The lighting and your voice are perfect. Kind of gives an intimate tavern or family parlor feel. From there I hope the song builds and builds.

Ernie Hannaford

Thank you for sharing the sneak peek! That short bit was very mesmerizing. I think if you have time, then a VLOG would be super. It can be a great experience learning more behind the scene items. But essentially do what works best for yourself and what you have time to do =) PS - I got your letter today and that made my day.... Love the note, the pick :) and The sticker!! Once my car is dry, thats getting on there for all to see. OH and I love the Malu stickers on the letter too, lovely touch. Thank you again =)

Richard Glidden

The video looks great so far. I can't wait to see the finished version! As for the after-the-fact vlog/chat, I always find it really interesting to see your process and your thoughts on your finished work. Like others said, if you feel you have time, it's something I'd really like to see. But only if you feel that you have the time.

Christer Lind

I tried it again and now the video ends at 1.17 is that right?

malukah

That's right! Glad it worked properly finally!
