A private family dinner turns William Sterling into more than an unanswered invitation. With political expectations growing and Alexander's reelection tied to Dan's hope of ever reversing PROTEUS, Victoria insists that one harmless public date may be a necessary part of protecting them both.

By the following morning, a quiet riding session has become something neither Dan nor Charlie agreed to. But William may understand the pressure surrounding them better than anyone expects—and he has an arrangement of his own to propose.

What begins as a practical solution soon becomes more complicated.
