Temple of Time

The Sanctum Temporus, or 'Temple of Time' as it is colloquially known, is often seen as more of a novelty for tourists than a serious place of worship. Several decades ago one of the high mages attempted a complex time travel spell on this spot, but was dangerously unsuccessful. The fallout from the failed magic caused time to warp and twist uncontrollably in the immediate vicinity.

Initially the site was cordoned off, but a small group of arcane researchers gained permission to study the site and inhabit it. They were able to install a device to keep the time alteration from affecting themselves and others, but any structure they attempted to build around the site would age at vastly different speeds.

Over time their studies and experiments attracted others, some of whom were academics who wished to carry out their own research around this unique phenomenon, but others arrived who believed this was an act of the gods and wished to worship it as such. Today there is something of a schism between the two groups, but both continue to use the space for their own means.

Temple of Knowledge

Heidrun Elmertyr founded the Temple of Knowledge as a place to teach and learn, purely for the love of learning. For him the act of study was a religious act, as if by learning more about the world he was bringing himself closer to the gods who created it, and he knew there were others out there who would feel similarly. Over time he was joined by a small but intensely intelligent group from across the continent, all eager to expand their own knowledge.

The Temple was expanded below ground to hold the great works of art and scripture created by the group as part of their studies. Unfortunately for them however, a group of outlaws heard about the temple and assumed that there would be much of great value inside. They attacked during the day when the worshippers were in the upper halls, slaughtering them all in their fervour for riches, only to realise the lower levels were magically sealed.

After the outlaws left Heidrun emerged from below, the only survivor of the attack. His horror at the sight of his fallen brothers and sisters broke something in his mind and to this day he still resides alone in the temple, hoarding texts and scrolls and reading obsessively. He believes that if he can only gain enough knowledge, the gods will give him the power to return his followers to him.

Cultists Ziggurat Exterior Scene

The Moonglade is home to many ancient wonders, most of which have been lost to time. This crumbling Ziggurat may have stood for thousands of years before its current inhabitants laid claim to it. Perhaps the group were always zealous fanatics, perhaps the fey-touched presence within the temple influenced their minds.

Either way they have dedicated themselves to an un-seeable, un-knowable being that resides beneath, or perhaps within the whirlpool. Its hunger is endless, and its followers relentless in their drive to bring it souls to devour.

Brawl Under the Blossoms by David N. Ross - 1st to 3rd Level

A night of frivolity is interrupted by accusations, backstabbing, and violent revenge, and it is up to the heroes to keep violence from overwhelming the Cherry Blossom Festival.

This adventure takes place in Cartosia, but can easily be adapted to any urban campaign setting with gardens.

Paradox for 5e & PF2E

The quality of craftsmanship on this solid gold pocket watch is obvious from the second someone lays eyes upon it. Constantly spinning clockwork gears wind in a nearly impossibly deep cavity on the outside covered by a layer of glass and outlined in a solid gold ring. The chain is finely knit to allow it to flow freely, but keep it secured via a clip on one side.

Opening the watch reveals a dizzying display of swirling blue light that cascades into a whirlpool of astounding and seemingly impossible depth within. Rather than a standard clock layout, a spiral of numbers disappears into the depths of the whirlpool.

Parachron for 5e & PF2E

Originally built with the goal of finding a way to manipulate time itself, Parachrons dutifully tinker with all manner of time devices hoping to find a way for their old and forgotten masters to turn back the clock and live on eternally. Many such beings barely remember the thing that created them, and instead their mechanical brains are filled with the constant goal to find some way to permanently manipulate time.
