This week, I've been working on Mia's new animations and art. I'm finding it a bit difficult to define perspectives and poses, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of it little by little, especially considering the limitations of pixel art.

I think I need to change the approach for the dialogue screen compared to the previous two phases, because as you can probably guess Mia doesn't fit anymore. In this case, it’s not very difficult, simply placing the sky in the background makes it clear that you’re looking up, but for future stages, I’ll have to come up with something.

Another detail I’m taking into account is the clothing, it shouldn't grow along with her, which is why it already looks quite tight from the previous stage. I'm thinking about getting rid of it and using the same material she used for the tents to make her something.

Those are the main things that crossed my mind while I was drawing, I’ll likely come across a few more doubts as I keep working but I'll certainly have the animations and sprites finished in a few days.

And then if we continue with the current release schedule, v0.3 would be released on November 10. There are a couple of things left to determine, but I think it's a suitable date.

With all that said, see you next week.

Perspective does cool stuff!

God, I love how big she looks in the perspective.

Homelesshamster

Also in my opinion I think watching her grow out of her original attire is the better option it just puts into perspective how huge she is.

Amazing art! And yes, conveying height is complicated. Even in art in general, it can be hard to convey heights without comparison elements present. But you got this! Seeing the sky, etc, and playing with perspective from the MC’s pov is a nice way to do it! Could be a thing where her clothes rip due to her growth, and we need to forage/cultivate for fibers to make new clothes for her

Mira

I think there's a small mishap of her face being angled as if it is perfectly parallel to our character's face, since her upper and lower face are the same size, rather than the upper part being smaller and the lower part being larger due to our perspective being under her. Regardless, great stuff!

I know, but because of pixel art, I still haven't managed to get a result I'm happy with when altering the head's proportions irregularly. To me, it just looks like she's looking down at you, she isn't facing straight ahead, which is why the face looks flat. But I need to change the arms because I couldn't quite decide on them, and they throw off the perspective a bit. With the change I have in mind, the image will make much more sense.

Naralagi

I think that's what convinces me the most too.

Thank you, I doubt I'll implement a fiber-gathering mechanic this time, but it could be something interesting in the future.

Simon Richard

Yeah, I meant when she grows really big. But yeah :> Looking forward to the next build of the game!

This POV looks phenomenal, so excited! But are you gonna put some scenes even when you beat her in the strength duel given the fact that we have two (win and lose) for the tag?

Naralagi

I wanted to give a different style to the strength minigame by showing little animations instead of the tag images, this way there is diversity in the size interactions with Mia. It's good to get some fresh air and step out of that POV every now and then, I think that if it weren't like that, we would miss out on a lot of things!
